I have been told that if you were not married in a Catholic church than the marriage is considered a civil marriage and that is adultery. Is that right? Does that mean that when protestants get married in their churches that they are commiting adultery because it was not done as a sacrament of the church?

Hi,

This only applies to Catholics. The Church recognizes the marriages between non-Catholics.
