When interceding with God, do all saints have the same influence to convince God to grant something? This, of course, excludes Mary, since you can’t get any higher than her.

If you answer, please cite your reasons for your opinion; add references if possible.

I wonder…are we “convincing God” to grant our prayers, or are we seeking the benefit that God wishes to offer us if only we sincerely request it? I believe the latter is true. There are many gifts God gives without our asking of course.

I believe God would be delighted for us to ask with the trusting confidence that we expect saints to have in asking favours and help of Him. He rejoices in the love we extend to others when we pray for them. It blesses us and it blesses them, so of course He desires that we pray for the requisite graces and assistance.

The saints are wonderful examples of gospel living for us. We do sometimes ask their intercession because they overcame a particular difficulty or represent a particular virtue that encourages us to ask their special intercession. St Paul tells us that God has no favourites. He gives different graces.

It appears that while he was here on earth God gave St Pio (Padre Pio) more graces for intercession than is usual, and I guess if you’re looking for someone really extraordinary, maybe you could seach out information on his life, and ask his intercession.
I must go. Dinner to serve. God bless, Trishie
