Are all tattoos outlawed?

I’m curious about this because I have heard differing opinions on whether or not a tattoo would be a desecration of the body. Are all tattoos outlawed? Only excessive ones? Only ones of morally objectionable content? Would a relatively small tattoo of the Chi Rho be acceptable on the arm or hand or would that be considered a sacrilege of the body, the symbol, both, or neither?
