 Well, I’m confused because the Koran states very clearly that Jesus is not the son of God, and that Jesus did not die on the cross and redeem mankind, and that God is not our heavenly father, and that God never had a Son and never had any children at all, and that anyone who thinks otherwise is committing the worst sin of all sins. And what is above is what all my Muslin friends tell me. It seems to me that they can’t possible believe that Jesus is God. They do not seem to be Pro Christ, but Anti Christ. But, there must be some way that we do worship the same God if the Church so teaches. Can anyone help me out here? :They say also that because christians believe these thing, they will go to the lowest Hell. I need a little help here, my IQ is almost normal so just a little should do it, thank you confused:

Good point Barton. How we catholics compare our faith with them. While Chruch teaches about the same God. But Quran say differently about Christianity. I hope this discussion will be useful for all of us here. 🙂

 Well, you know, I was informed by someone who claimed to know that the Church teaches that muslims’ and Catholic worship the same God: Jesus = allah. But the more I think about it the more I think that this can not be true. However, if it is true, I am prepaired to submit. But it is becoming a sore spot on my brain so I would appreciate any feed back on this (for me) perplexing problem.

I have pondered this and I have concluded that we are all God’s Children whether or not we want to accept that. If a child does not understand or accept what the father is saying, he can not change his mind for him. He still loves that child, and it causes him much pain. Sometimes a father will have another child of his try to talk to his brother or sister to try to change his ways, but sometimes a father has to just be there, praying and hoping that that wandering child will come to the truth, the way , and the light.

:ehh: Are you saying then that the Koran does not tell the truth about who God really is, and even puts false words into God’s mouth?

hdbarton,

I think the more appropriate formula would be: the Father = Allah. I understand your confusion as Muslims refuse to recognize Jesus as the Son of God and the Trinity, but so do Jews and there is typically no question about Christians and Jews worshiping the same God.

I understand there are some very fundamental differences in our interpretations of God, but I can assure you that Pope John Paul II did recognize Muslims as our brothers and sisters in faith as we both worship the God of Abraham.

I hope that helps,

Peace,

George

I know, but nowhere does the Holy Scripture (Official Cannon) state that God stated emphatically that He never had a son, and to say He did constutes the most serious sin all all sins (the mother of all sins). Nowhere does the Bible of the Jews say that Christian will go to the lowest hell. But, if I might bother you some more, can you direct me to the source of authority for the statement (the Muslim worship the same God as the worshippers of Jesus do? Thank you, Barton :o

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day."

I know, I know… There are times when we must accept the wisdom of Holy Mother Church and as Rebecca pointed out we are all God’s children (even if some refuse to accept Him or distort His Word to meet their personnal agendas).

I believe Eireann has provided the statement for you.

Have faith brother.

:crying: Still don’t know enough - The Link is a very good one, however it really doesn’t say, : Allah is Jesus, or Allah is the Holy ghost, or Allan is the Father, or Allah is the Son: The Koran says that Allah says that all of these things are damnable lies. Can you referr me to a little more complete quote? Thank you, barton. :o QUOTE=George Waters]I know, I know… There are times when we must accept the wisdom of Holy Mother Church and as Rebecca pointed out we are all God’s children (even if some refuse to accept Him or distort His Word to meet their personnal agendas).URL: scborromeo.org/ccc/para/841.htm

👋 Well, I found the correct answer! It is in The Declaration on the relationship of the Church to Non-Christian Religions (traslated by the Very Rev. M.S.G.R. JOSEPH GALLAGHER: It makes meention of the spiritual bond linking the people of the New Covenant with Abrahams stock. But remember, Abraham is the father of countless nations. The Declaration is the final word on this subject from that great Eccumentical Council, Vatican 2. There are only 21 lines dealing specifically with the Moslems, and nowhere does it say that Catholics are to believe that Allah is Jesus Christ! One would have to be very rushed in ones personal life to fall into such an unlikely belief! Thank you all for spuring me on to discover this final truth! Love, Barton :bounce:

When you read the Bible, you’ll find many times where Jesus, peace be upon him, is praying to someone. You’ll also find times where he says that he was sent by someone. You’ll also find times where he says he does not do his own will, but the will of that someone.

That someone is Allah (the arabic for God). *That * is who Muslims worship.

Hope that helps 🙂

If I dont believe that Jesus is my lord and savior, then according to your beliefs I will go to hell.

If you, after correct knowledge has reached you, continue to worship Jesus alongside God, then, according to my belief, you will go to hell.

While your explanation may make everyone feel good…it fails to emphasize the consequences of our decisions made here on earth. May God guide us all.

hdbarton,

Yeah, I’d say you found the answer too. They seek to worship the God of Abraham just as we do, but have a distorted understanding of Him. Not sure why you’re too worried about it, though.

 Well, not according to a completely different book than the Koran. The Book we believe is the Perfect book says that Jesus is only displacing his own will to please his Father, the one who begot him via the Virgin Mary. And, as your book says, ALLAH is nobodies father. So, we agree if we accept we read completely different books which we hold to be true, and worship completely different gods, altough, we both accept the truth that there is only one comanding perfection in all of existence! :bible1:

Faith101,

Actually the Catholic Church teaches that we cannot judge whether any particular person will go to hell. We believe Jesus came to us to save us from the suffering of hell by showing us the way to eternal life. No Catholic can say you, as a Muslim, will go to hell. If they do they are speaking against the teachings of the Church and are presuming to know the will of God. I believe based on my limited knowledge of Islam that the difference between Catholicism and Islam is that Islam claims all non-Muslims will go to hell. I pray neither of us will be eternally separated from God’s love.

Peace,

George

George, so you do not belive that it is a requirment to believe that Jesus Christ is the lord and savior in order to go to heaven? According to the Christian beliefs then, is it deeds and not faith that will allow a person to enter heaven? Does it not matter what i believe about God? Then why any religion at all

I also want to make something clear. I can not point to any one person and say “you are going to hell” simply because i do not know two things 1.what lies in their heart 2. in what state will they die.

But in terms of belief, anyone who invents a lie against God and rejects the truth after it was clearly told to them, they will enter Hell and will abide therin forever.
