I have been coming to a realization lately that I have a deficient "attitude of gratitude"concerning all the spiritual benifits that have been bestowed on me in Christ.I don’t know if this is a function of under going difficulties or if it is an organic, cultural thing due to the incredible wealth we as Americans possess.I think If I were more financialy secure,I would be tempted to be more dismissive of the gifts God has given me.

That would definitely be a personal issue.

I agree that this is probably a personal issue that The Holy Spirit is drawing your attention to - but do rest assured not one of us is capable of true gratitude and thanksgiving to God other than through uniting ourselves to the gratitude and thanksgiving of Christ - our Great High Priest. Especially in The Mass…Blessings - Barb

Go attend an “open” AA meeting, and ask that the topic for the night be “Gratitude”. You want an attitude -of-gratitude? We can supply it by the gallon,😃

I agree that we are not very practiced in seeing things through grateful, humble eyes. Let’s all try harder. I know there are brilliant exceptions.

What has helped me is that everyday I try to stop, take a minute, and thank God for everything that happened to me in that day. Good and bad. The more you do this, the easier it becomes, and you will change your attitude toward grattitude to God.

You can also make it a point, to express your thanksgiving to God… at each and every Mass you attend. I think it took great humility on your part, to ask this question of yourself… and it was a good reminder to all of us. God bless.

I *have *noticed that most Americans say “God bless America” as though we deserve it, not as though we need it.

I think Americans ARE capable of gratitude and thanksgiving to God, but by their selfishness and/or ignorance, think they are in control not God. God gives us the gifts, we are the recepients.
