No, animals are not wiser than people. If they were, they would have been the ones to invent modern civilization along with things such as jets. Now, granted that pertains to knowledge but I still do not think that animals are wiser than humans. Humans are created in the image of God and animals are not.
While I agree with you, invention requires not only a wise head, but hands.

Except for the apes, most of animal life lacks those particular limbs and so, ever if they had a wise mind, you wouldn’t see it reflected in anything made by them.

As a consequence, among animals there is less war
this made me laugh.

Yeah, I suppose there is less war. But if you’re the rabbit or a chicken with a fox nearby - you may not be any better off than an innocent with a nazi nearby. The alligators and lions - and tyrannosaurus rexes don’t need war - they can pretty much get what they want. Meanwhile the rabbits and pigs have no way to defend themselves and live having to watch every second.

Wisdom is different from intelligence. I would define wisdom as the capacity to live in accordance with nature, not as capacity to learn. Perhaps another definition of wisdom would “the state of mind which is conducive to peace”.

The people who built the Tower of Babel showed intelligence, but did they show wisdom? The people who built the atomic bomb showed intelligence, but again, probably not wisdom.

Humans have constructed a vast and complex social and economic system. But does this show wisdom, or simply intelligence?

I would disagree that wisdom has anything to do with nature. God is not natural, after all, yet is the source of wisdom.

If wisdom is harmony with nature then every bacterium on the planet would be “wiser” than human life.

Perhaps- the Stoic view (which many Christians take) is that nature is the perfect plan of God, and therefore, to be in accord with nature is to be in accord with God. I don’t entirely share this view, myself.

What definition would you offer for a wisdom? Who are good examples of ‘wise people’?

Is being a ‘wise person’ the same as being a saint?

It would seem that in many respect animals are wiser than people:
  • Animals do not exhibit greed or avarice, but take only what they need, and do not have useless anxiety about the future, e.g. Jesus’ reference to the birds of the air, which take no thought for the future
  • Animals do not exhibit pride, vanity or desire for the esteem of others, unlike their human counterparts
  • Animals have social and sexual relationships in accordance with the norms of nature, unlike humans, not having sex for recreation
  • Animals, when no activity is necessary, can sink into deep contemplation, which is possible only for few humans. What mystic could ever equal a crocodile lying still on the banks of the river for stillness of mind and body?
As a consequence, among animals there is less war, less destruction of the environment, less injustice, less immorality, less depression, than amongst people. Are animals, therefore, wiser than people?
No. Animals do not have an immortal soul, nor do they have reasoning capability.

Animals cannot invent machines that improve society.

Animals cannot discover cures for diseases or medication to ameliorate misery.

Animals cannot truly love, since all they have are sexual instincts.

Animals cannot worship God.

But animals DO worship God, as says King David:

Praise the Lord from the earth,**
You great sea creatures and all the depths;**Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
Mountains and all hills;
Fruitful trees and all cedars;
**Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and flying fowl;**Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.

Praise is not necessarily the same as worship.

Any dog or cat owner would disagree with you that their pets cannot love.

And as I said earlier, only beings with hands can create inventions.

God Bless and ICXC NIKA

Wisdom and reasoning are two different things and don’t necessarily correlate.
They are not the same thing, but both are products of the cognitive mind, which is generated by the human soul.

(Unless of course, you also define wisdom as “harmony with nature”.)
