Are any Catholic groups giving Bibles, rosaries, etc. to soldiers?

I’ve got friends in both Iraq and Afghanistan that could use rosaries. I will ask their permission first, and then send their addresses to Rosary Army. I’m very, very certain my friends won’t have problems with me giving up their addresses and I’m very sure they’d like to get a rosary.

I sent my DH to Iraq last year with a rosary. It totally didn’t meet standards as it was a wooden beaded kind with metal links. But PJPII had blessed it and guess what… my DH isn’t Catholic but now that he’s home, he’s gone to Mass with me every single Sunday and I swear that although he’s keeping it in the dark, that man is converting! I’m just watching it in slow motion but that man is converting! After 9 years of marriage, I am watching the priest of my family come in to being and I can’t tell you enough that it’s due to that Rosary I had him carry!

So thank you to all of you for all your support of our soldiers by providing Rosaries for them. 👍

There is a specific archdiocese for the US military. I would imagine that they could provide details on what is needed for our troops and how to help out. I don’t believe the rosaries have to be solely made of cord although there are color and material guidelines for safety. My parents’ chaplains have been deployed on a rotating basis to the war zones, so they may be taking religious supplies with them also if someone who wants to help is able to get onto a stateside base/post and ask at the chapel.

When I was an AF brat growing up you could just pick up a rosary from a basket at each base chapel if you didn’t have one. I’m not sure who paid for the supplies. I’ve seen ads in Catholic Digest asking for donations to provide free copies of their publications to the military.
