Are any new Catholic Bible translations being worked on?

I read somehwere a few months ago about an ongoing translation effort, which I seem to recall was by one of the religious orders, and has been going on since the 1920s or something. That’s a Carthusian pace, but it wasn’t the Carthusians. I’m Google searching but coming up with nothing- anybody know???

Catholic Book Publishing’s ‘St. Joseph edition’ NABRE large print Bible has thick enough paper and does about the best in preventing bleed though. The font size is 11. They also make a giant print Bible (font size 14) that has thick enough paper. And the hardback or imitation leather edition of both of these Bibles is well under $50

Hillbilly, except for the Mass readings part, there is an Ignatius RSV (I know, I know) which fits the rest of your wish list completely, and includes both Old and New Testaments. It doesn’t have the commentaries by Hahn and Mitch though- yet. Only the Ignatius NT RSV has those, but there are Kindle versions of some of the OT Books coming out now with those great notes by Hahn and Mitch.

Is the Ignatius RSV labeled as large print? I’m having trouble finding one that says that.

I don’t know, but it doesn’t surprise me. Isn’t it recommended that translations be updated every 20 years or so? It seems like it takes at least 10 for them to be done. There are some busy folks somewhere.

I should have added; the large print (illustrated) edition of the above mentioned Bibles has the 3 year cyle of Sunday readings in the back,** but the giant print does not!**

Hopefully I won’t need the giant print any time soon, but that’s helpful info for those who do.

All I know is that it should be easy to defend Catholic beliefs from a Catholic bible. The NAB does not help in this regard. In Luke 1:28, it does not even match the “Hail, Mary” prayer! Neither does it support the forgiveness of sin in persona Christi in 2 Corinthians 2:10. The footnotes? Ugh.

And, the RSV-CE/RSV- 2CE are all “Catholicized” protestant translations. They have fixed Isaiah 7:14, but dropped the ball on 2 Corinthians 2:10.

A Church with 1.2 BILLION members, the greatest theologians in the world, Universities without parallel, and presence in virtually every nation on earth should not have to purchase its bible translation! Or, am I just being a cranky old man? (Don’t answer)
