Moral according to which system/who?

Extreme Example:
Within the moral system that groups like ISIS use, it is moral to kill homosexuals. However, it is not moral to kill them under Catholicism.

NB: The only civilizations that allow atheism are those based on Judaeo-Christian principles.

Specifically those civilizations in which a particular faith is no longer a matter of state.

I’m not sure what it means to be based on “Judaeo-Christian principles.” From what I’ve seen in this forum it doesn’t necessarily mean “principals derived from Christianity.”

You tend to find higher toleration for various religious dispositions in areas that are politically stable, economically stable, and capitalistic. I could go be an Atheist in Japan, or a Christian in Japan, a Hindu in Japan (or one of a number of other religious classifications). So long as I’m not interfering with how things are done I don’t think anyone would care.

No because we’re no longer in the dark ages.
We’re in even darker ages when we consider the diabolical injustice and inequality on this planet where eight men own as much wealth as the 3.6 billion poorest people.

No, atheists are amoral.
While we cannot judge the souls of atheists, we can and do judge atheism as sinful.
CCC 2125 Since it rejects or denies the existence of God, atheism is a sin against the virtue of religion.

Of course this is only “sinful” according the opinion of some people. 🙂 God forbid that independent, critical thinking would be an acceptable option. 😉 God forbid that people would be allowed their critical skills and decline accepting assertions without real underpinning. Who said that “religion” is a “virtue”?

According to Webster a sin is “an offense against religious or moral law” which implies that atheists can indeed be sinful if they attack or undermine moral principles.

Which religious or moral principles? I hope you realize that there are many different, and frequently conflicting religious and moral principles. So what is “sinful” according to SOME principles can be perfectly acceptable to others.

Nevertheless, I would NEVER declare Catholics to be “sinful”, just because their principles are different from mine. As long as their behavior does not interfere with my life, they can declare their principles whatever they want them to be. Against gay marriage? Then don’t enter into one.

You prove my point. Atheists are amoral. They do not have a standard of morality. Anything goes, depending on the mood at the time.

Which religious or moral principles?
The principles of liberty, equality and **fraternity **based on the teaching of Jesus that we are all children of the same Father.

Unnecessary comment.

You need to explain how you decided what your principles are…

Moral according to meaning.
