I have a Catholic friend who is suffering from pancreatic cancer. She likes to attend a weekly healing service at an Episcopal church. The priest lays hands on her, as do the lay people there, while he prays for her. I try hard to be a faithful Catholic, but I want to support my friend. Is it okay for me to attend these services?

While it is not necessarily wrong for a Catholic in such circumstances to attend such services (assuming she is not receiving Episcopal communion), I must wonder why a Catholic would want to when a Catholic has access to daily Mass and the anointing of the sick. Instead of attending these services with her, why not offer to drive your friend to Mass on a regular basis and arrange for a Catholic priest to visit her home and offer her the anointing of the sick as needed?
