It would certainly be news to me if they were! I just thought that it was time for a little joke to lighten up the atmosphere here. Humor can be a wonderful thing and in this case, it is surely fitting!
Someone is playing a joke, there is no ‘dialogues’ and there is no getting closer doctrinally. On the flip side, the Catholic Church is what is keeping the JWs (and most other non-Catholics) alive, because without us they have nothing to ‘oppose’, and such opposition is precisely how they defined themselves. It would certainly be news to me if they were! No, their religious foundation is Adventist actually, and it evolved somewhat from that. The closest that JWs will get to any other religion would be the Mormons.
Many, if not most churches own or control a publishing concern of some sort. This assists them in their work.No one can get close to the JWs as they will not dialogue on this forum. Those that do show up quickly sneek away.
That’s a little strong. As Catholics, we do not call other religions satanic. That will accomplished nothing. Most of the people are very nice, just ignorant of the Catholic faith and mislead by false teachings. We would accomplished more by teaching them the truth and by prayer.Jehovahas Witnesses ( JWs ) will NEVER dialogue with anyone since all religions and
organizations are originated by Satan,
For those of you who are interested in the JWs, read Dr. Walter Martin’s “Kingdom of the Cults”.
His point was that in the eyes of the JWs, literally EVERY group (especially the Catholic Church) is a mouthpiece for Satan. Based on this realization alone, they could never sit down at the table with us because it would be equivalent to them “dialoging” with Satan, which is obviously a no-no.That’s a little strong. Unfortunately that’s true. My boyfriend’s family are JWs and very nice people. Though no one has ever said it, we all know the reason they don’t invite me over for dinner or family get togethers is because I’m not a JW. Heck, the only time my bf’s sister talks to me is when she tries to “preach” to me.Joke or not I was glad to see this question. There are some JW’s that keep coming to the house. I can’t believe some of the misconceptions they have about the Catholic faith. One of the ladies asks me a lot of questions and I can tell some of what I am sharing with her is making sense, but she can’t get information or act too interested because they travel in twos to keep each other on track. The sad thing is they can’t even have a friend that is not a JW. I can’t meet with either of them on an individual basis. I have also read that once they are JW’s they can’t very easily get away from their faith even if they want to.
I hope you dont take this the wrong way, but I would suggest you cut off that relationship, a Catholic married to a JW is a train wreck in progress. The Church has traditionally looked down on mixed marriages to spare the Catholic of the heartbreaking problems that inevitably happen.Unfortunately that’s true. LOL - thanks for the laugh. I read the title and was like ‘what the …’ The two faiths will meet when the proverbial hot place freezes over.It would certainly be news to me if they were! Actually I think the JWs are closer to the Quakers actually mostly because of their pacifist views. Mormons are just too different to be comparable (I know - I’ve been bothThe closest that JWs will get to any other religion would be the Mormons.

I was taught ( and taught others) that Jesus is Jehovah God’s first and only direct creation and through Jesus all other things were created. As I understood it - Jehovah was the architect and Jesus was the contractor - the Father made the plans and the Son did the work. I don’t recall acutal verses (JW days were more than a decade ago - jikes! make that almost 2 decades ago - gosh I’m getting old ) but " I was the Master workman at his side" from Psalms comes to mind. And Corinthians (colossians?) “through him all things were made, nothing was made that wasn’t made by him (Jesus)” Forgive my lame references - too lazy to look them up. In other words, I would not have been phazed in the least by this line of reasoning as a JW.To All:
Next time you are approached by a Jehovahs Witness ask him/her to explain why the
Watchtower teaches that Jesus is not God. Their answer is interesting. Viz:
Watchtower: “Jesus in his spiritual form was Michael the archangel. After his reurrection
by God he was adopted as the Son of God, but not as God the Son. He was then given the title of Logos. His a god, but not God.”
After this ask the JW to explain the gospel of John 1:1-3 where all things were created by the Logos. If Jesus is the Logos and he was originally Michael the archangel, who is a created being, how then did Jesus manage to create himself?
The JW will be taken aback by this and will tell you that he will get the answer for you and
you may never see or hear from a JW again.
I have found that this question has started many a JW to think and examine the Watchtower teachings. It is the start of the chink in their armor and has brought many home to our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
MariaJoan:
JWs are truly brainwashed. It is very difficult to break them from their beliefs. The questions that you were asked may have seemed and sounded as sincere interest in
the church by the JW, but, believe me, it was only to accumulate sufficient information to
determine how to attack your beliefs.
I have been witnessing and trying to “de-brainwash” JWs for over 30 years and in that
time have learned many tricks of their “trade”. Again, I recommend you read “Kingdom
of the Cults” by Dr. Walter Martin.
Pax Dei.
I don’t think about breaking it off anymore. My bf is coming to RCIA with me-just to learn though, no sacraments this year- and church almost every Sunday. He doesn’t consider himself Catholic (yet lol) but at least not a JW anymore- he rarely goes to JW meetings. He does not have a problem raising our children Catholic, but I know his family will. Oh well,I hope you dont take this the wrong way, but I would suggest you cut off that relationship, a Catholic married to a JW is a train wreck in progress. The Church has traditionally looked down on mixed marriages to spare the Catholic of the heartbreaking problems that inevitably happen.
