Are Catholics Born Again Christians?

We are born again every day, we try to move along the road of conversion every day.
 
There is no such thing as a born again Christian. We are born again when we are baptised and become a Christian.

It’s one of the most valuable truths protestants miss.
It’s a common belief among protestants that you need to have a strong emotional experience to be born again.
I’ve met some very religious and pious people who were tormented because they have never had that kind of experience.
This is one of the points that breaks my heart the most when I think about my beloved ones that follow the many heresies identified as protestantism.
 
I agree. It is most unfortunate that such a great gift as salvific grace has been reduced to an emotional experience for so many. I do believe that this has crept into the sacramental life of the Catholic Church in some ways as well.

How many time to we hear people say “I don’t get anything out of mass”? No doubt, the criterion for those who say this is an assessment of how emotionally stirred they were by the Liturgy.

First and foremost, the purpose of the Sacred Liturgy is to offer due worship to God. Yet, there persists a sentiment among many that this is not primary, that somehow the worshipper or the ministers or the mucisians or the artwork are central to the Liturgy. It is so easily forgotten that all of these things are but for one purpose, the worship of God.

There is head knowledge. There is heart knowledge. We can be born again and not realize we are. We aren’t raised w a passion for Jesus. Protestants May think they are born, again, but are not.
When Jesus is all consuming in your life. When you feel, His nudging you, to do things.
When there is this subtle joy that bubbles in your spirit. You are Born Again!

Well said. Then these same non Catholics if they commit grave sin will state that “those other people that sin gravely, usually some sort of public sin like the Pastor having an affair , etc” were NEVER really born again.

Sad but true.

And I love this: after a big sin happens, they say, they weren’t really saved. Their initial Salvation prayer wasn’t really meant. We saved ppl, aren’t suppose to do bad things. Or a little sin, we backslid. It’s partly true. I feel some of this is semantics.
