Are Catholics encouraged to read the Bible?

I know an Eastern Catholic priest from nearby who is originally from Texas who tells us to look into our Bibles during The Divine Liturgy I’m not Eastern Catholic and I’m not there that often but I think it’s cool he tells people to do that he tells people to look up which verses in the Bible during the liturgy, Of course this is during the homily everything else is in strict Byzantine order.
