To my understanding, there are 3 major theories on the Rapture found in Evangelical circles. 1) Pre-Tribulation rapture 2) Mid-Tribulation Rapture 3) Post-Tribulation Rapture.
But what about this verse? When I was a protestant this verse was used to show that there would be a rapture. The rapture is a man-made invention.
According to Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, anyway, who are no friends of Catholics. Most of those who believe in the Rapture believe Catholics will mostly be out of the Rapture.![]()
This is correct, if we are not willing to get caught up in labels (e.g., the name rapture). Catholics, for the most part, would fall into category 3 (post -trib rapture) but would think of this as a being called up to Jesus (per thessalonians) to meet him and return with him immediatley for the judgement (a 2nd coming). Many protestants believe the rapture is a pulling the Church out of the world before the tribulation (or during the tribulation) to spear it of suffering, although scripture (including the book of revelation) suggests the Church will go through the trials of the tribulation. To my understanding, there are 3 major theories on the Rapture found in Evangelical circles. 1) Pre-Tribulation rapture 2) Mid-Tribulation Rapture 3) Post-Tribulation Rapture.
The Last Coming.Christ’s return. The Judgement. The End,or rather,The Beginning. But what about this verse? When I was a protestant this verse was used to show that there would be a rapture.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
