Are catholics the only ones that can do exorcisms?

Well I was watching this show about dramatizations of real exorcism on discovery channel.
and I realized that the only ones that were doing the exorcism were all catholics, and not protestans.

Are chatolics the only ones that can do exorcisms?

It is best that one use care in presuming to have the power to exorcise. Acts 19:13-16
Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.”
14] Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this.

There are a few protestant denoms that believe in exorcism. I’ve seen three non-catholic, non-vagante groups with pastors doing exorcisms of some stripe profiled on TV programs.
 
Just about anyone can drive a demon away. The problem is that demons only come where they are either invited or they have some reason to be there. If you don’t get rid of the underlying reason they were there in the first place, they will just return with more of them, so that they will be harder to drive away again.

If you ignore them but get rid of why they are there, they probably won’t stay.
 
That’s an interesting question. The only ones you see in movies or on TV are Catholic priests doing the exorcisms.

This is just my observation, but a lot of evangelical protestants talk about ‘spiritual warfare’ and being under demon attack; but they don’t really use the word ‘exorcism.’ They believe that this state of affairs can be remedied by confronting whatever is there with the Word of God, prayer and fasting, ect. Anyone can ‘resist the devil and he will flee from you.’
 
Well evangelical protestans call “the lack of money” a demon and other similar stuffs.

I think that anyone can do an exorcism. It all depends of the holiness of the person.

MARK 9: 37 says:
Do not forbid him. For there is no man that doth a miracle in my name, and can soon speak ill of me. 39 For he that is not against you, is for you.

This means also that one cant talk bad about the bride of the Lord that is the church and do exorcisms, but I think anyone that dosent speak ill about Christ nor about the church can do an exorcism, depending of his holiness.
 
The Rite of Exorcism is nothing more than a set of prayers really. Technically speaking, I would suppose that anyone COULD perform the driving out of a demon. Previous posters have given Scriptural support for the notion that men who were not know to the Apostles (therefore could not have possibly been ordained) were driving out demons.

I think part of the reason you always see Catholic priests performing exorcisms in the movies is because the Catholic Church is what people will automatically associate with the word “exorcism” (after all we have been performing them for 2000 years).

One thing I have noticed is the difference between Catholic exorcists (at least their portrayals) and Protestant exorcists is that the Protestant “exorcisms” I have seen always seem more like a stage-show than anything else…almost ungenuine. Granted I have never seen an honest to God, real life Rite of Exorcism performed, but maybe that just goes to further illustrate my point. This is not to say that only Catholic exorcisms are genuine (if that was the impression you got, please read the first paragraph again before jumping all over me).
 
I’ve seen shows where Protestants do exorcisms, but I have serious doubts that there were any real posessions in those cases. The Catholic church has an extensive checklist, if you will, of charactoristics that muct be present before they will consider an excorism necessary.
