hahaha, the claims you have made are deceptions. They take one side of the Catholic teaching and present it as the entire teaching.
Jimmy…don’t bother with him. We’ve already asked him to read some authoritative materials. He only seems interested in brandishing his own preconcieved misinformation and falsities of the Church on this forum.

To any Protestant who thinks they know what the Catholic Church teaches, I suggest you read any one of the following books and I guarantee you will walk away with a completely different understanding of our faith.

-Where is that in the Bible? by Patrick Madrid

-Answer Me This by Patrick Madrid

-What Catholics Really Believe-Setting the Record Straight: 52 Answers to Common Misconceptions About the Catholic Faith by Karl Keating

-Catholic Doctrine in Scripture: A Guide to the Verses That Are Key to Affirming the Faith by Gregory Oatis

-A Biblical Defense of Catholicism by Dave Armstrong

Actually, you might as well go to this list of books right here. Read some of them and learn…

Essential Books for Catholic-Protestant Debate

Hi Everyone

Well this is the first time i joined this forum, but it was such a huge surprise for me to see such battering about our christianity faith. Sorry to say i’m hailing from Asia and is a protestant.

But i find it strange why do believer like us keep telling one and other off who is right and who is wrong?? We are human and sinner to God. So why are we judging one and other?? God is the one who judge, not us!!! Whether a not different denomination can accept other practise, one cannot comments anything, who is right or wrong, let God do the judgement.

Sometime i wonder what if such message would to let those non-believer reads, what will they think about christianity?? Disorganise, slandering and talking bad among believers…So how to we convince them about our believes and spread our gospel to them, if among ourselves we cannot even tolerate one and other!!!

As christian we should live in humanity and not judgemental way!!! We should love one and others just like Jesus love us!!! Amen

Would you mind limiting your supporting citations to post-Protestant Reformation sources?

As Christians, we *should *live in humanity and not be judgemental in any way.

However, we are also called as Christians to spread the truth of the Gospel. The whole truth. Not just a watered down truth that makes everyone happy. Unfortunately, when the light of truth is shining, sometimes people see that as judgemental.

Truth must not be comprimised in favor of false love. We show no love to our brothers and sisters in Christ or non- Christians when we fail to spread the *full *truth of Christ, handed down from the Apostles.

God Bless,
Maria

The problem is that I’ve been told this by several people on this board, too.

Could you please provide a link to the threads that you are referring to? I have read some contention between Protestant and Catholic but I have not yet read a Catholic claim that a Protestant isn’t saved or can’t be a Christian.

Yup i agree, truth must not be compromise in favor of false love, but isn’t god will give the truth to believer and not human like us!!!
So if we start sharing non-believer what we practise are the truth, then i’m sure i will get remark like “YOU THINK YOU ARE GOD” coz they can also claim their practise are true thus they will no ending remarks. Most importantly is our faith and walk with Jesus. So let the judging to be done by God

God commanded us to go out and share the Gospel. Some are called to do it through actions, some words.

Neither is judging yet both can be perceived that way.

A person needs to do what God tells them to do, not what others who place judgement on their actions or words. For ultimately, God IS the judge. And He has told us to spread the Good News through actions AND words.

God Bless,
Maria

Hello,
I am a Conservative Protestant, and have a Catholic friend who continually claims that I may not get eternal life if I don’t become a Catholic. What is the Catholic Church’s official teacing about Protestants? My friend sends me quotes from various Catholic church fathers who claim that Protestants are not going to receive eternal life. I have seen on these forums that it is ok for
Catholics to go see their protestant friend get baptized. Do Catholic leaders disagree on whether Protestants are Christian?
Oh what a comment your catholic frez have make. Well only god will provide the truth not sinner like us. The more i read about stuff in the forum, the more i wanted to laugh…pple declaring who’s believes are truth…etc…Then what is all those scandal about?? As i have mentioned many times, we are human and human will commit sin, so is better for each of us to be careful about spreading who’s believes is the truth and be more thoughtful and loving towards fellow believers. I have been a nature party accepting all believes from different denomination are workshipping our dearest Jesus. We should unify as one religion to prevent non-believer hitting on us with those terrible scandal that the pastor/priest have committed.

Funny, I was just told in another thread that Protestants (and I am assuming that this includes Baptists, too) cannot be saved. Not only that we aren’t saved, but that we cannot be saved.

Marilana I think is the girl’s name. She was quite emphatic that we are going to Hell.

As opposed to the Bible, which teaches that we are saved by faith in Christ.

No, living a good life will not save you.

Let me make this clear: I soundly reject Roman Catholicism, it’s teachings, it’s rituals, it’s pope, all with the full knowledge of what Catholics believe that this means.

I am still saved.
You ask a wrong headed question. Yet, I will bite at your overly provacative question. If you reject the grace offered by the Church you cannot by any stretch of the imagination inherit eternal life. That’s rathe a no brainer. It is not clear from what you suffer. Some are invincibly ignorant and when they hear the truth they repent and become part of the Body of Christ. Others are wilfully of the Satan. You may know the answer to that. God does know the answer to that quandary. Go to a real Church and find out the answer.

Yes they are Christian, whether they are saved or not depends on the individual. Some are and some are not, just as some Catholics are saved and some are not.
