Are convert annulments treated differently ?

Hi all,
I am a Roman Catholic that came into the Church 18 years ago through RCIA 18 years ago this past Holy Saturday ( from A.M.E Church ) . After being Catholic for 10 year I met a women who was Baptist . I got married in the Baptist Church by a Baptist Minister .
I didn’t get dispensation to marry in a non-catholic church
and permission to marry a non-catholic from the Bishop . Sadly I am divorced and I hoping to have the marriage declared null in the eyes of the church . I am not sure if my case will be treat differently because I am a convert .
I just hope that I can be granted an Annulment because ever though I got off track my faith means everything to me . Thank you

Hi,

The annulment process is no different for converts than for cradle Catholics. The fact that you were married outside of the Catholic Church would mean that the marriage was not valid. The marriage tribunal will have to verify this fact, but it won’t take long. I suggest that you see your parish priest about this soon.
