Are dreamcatchers Satanic? I heard someone say this one time and I was wondering what your thoughts were on such things.

If you sincerely believe they’re magic, that’s problematic, although “Satanic” seems over the top. If it’s just a decoration or a souvenir or whatever, I don’t think it’s an issue.

It really comes down to the beliefs the person has surrounding the item, not the item itself.

I believe they are rooted in Native American spirituality. That doesn’t make them “Satanic,” but they definitely aren’t compatible with Christianity. Souvenir or decoration, okay. Talisman or protective charm, not okay.

thanks for your answers @BoomBoomMancini and @UpUpAndAway

I got one when I was younger, expecting to not have bad dreams.

Instead I had a nightmare, so just don’t mess with them.

Agreed. Not satanic, but if you see them as magic or spiritual protection, that’s superstition at best and attempted magic at worst.

Oh, now I know what you’re talking about. Those are not Satanic. You can buy them at Autozone.

Aren’t they an American Indian tradition? They’re superstition and pagan at worst. I wouldn’t have them in my house. I’m Catholic and would rather have something that raises my mind to God when I look at it.

They are Native American and I am thinking of getting one every Saturday I go to this supermarket where there is a guy a selling all sort of stuff - he’s Native American. Some of them are so pretty.
I know you are suppose to hang them above your bed (in order to “catch dreams”).
I feel tempted to try once and see what happens. Problem is - now it’s Lent and above my bed there is also an icon of Jesus. So the only nail to hang the dream catcher would be the one that holds the icon. So Christ + pagan stuff - dunno sounds irreverent to me.
Anyway… it’s probably just a bad idea to try one.
I used to be very fascinated with Native culture for a while so maybe I’d take it too seriously and it would be bad of me to just see what the thingie does.

If viewed as a cool trinket or whatever, they’re fine.

if you think they’re some sort of help from the Great Spirit, yeah- dont mess with them.

Since you’re expecting it to do something, I don’t advise getting one. I have a lot because we donate to St. Joseph’s Indian School so they keep sending them in the mail. I used to like them because they’re pretty but I’m taking them down because they collect dust and I have waay too much stuff. But if you’re in any mindset other than decoration please don’t temp yourself.

I make them. My mother is indigenous (Siksika) and doing little things like learning native words/ making dream catchers and other traditional crafts/ attending pow wow/ etc, help me stay connected to my heritage. I don’t give these items power or view them as anything more than just cultural artifacts. Important cultural artifacts but nothing more. A lot of indigenous people incorporate native traditional crafts into their Christian religious beliefs.

I would imagine one could attatch a Crucifix in the middle, or attach a saint icon, and create a cool fusion Catholic/native american piece of art

I went to an Indian Reservation/neighourhood in Canada. Their Catholic Church was awesome because they incorporated the Indian culture into the architecture. It was cool to see how embracing the Faith did not mean abandoning their cultural heritage.

😂😂😂 this x1000

Seriously, any perceived effect (positive or negative) is purely due to the power of suggestion, not Satan.
