Are Family Tree masses useful for dealing with generational sin and curses?

Exactly. To put it simply, can little grandchild be born with a serious illness because grandpa was a dirty no good horse thief, or something like that.
There is no spiritual connection whereby grandchild suffers with an illness given to her as punishment because her parents or grands or great-grands were sinners.

There may be some physical or mental health connection, as in, grandpa was a thief, he was thrown in prison, his children suffered because of that, his daughter wound up an alcoholic, and her baby, the grandchild, was born with fetal alcohol syndrome. But that’s not a spiritual “curse”, it just shows how the effects of your personal sin can also harm your whole family from a practical standpoint.

I presume a Mass may be offered in order to seek grace and healing from the ripple effects of the bad behavior of someone else in your tree. However, it should not be thought of as “lifting a curse”.

I’ve never heard of him.

There are Catholics who have bought into this novelty, I pray for them.
