Are female angels satanic?

Ok,
I have been confussed for a long time on this and would like to know what our church says about this. in the Bible, Angels are always refered to as he. they are always masculine in discription. so, do they all look male? I’ve seen a lot of immages of angels that look like women in churches and on greeting cards, etc. what does our church say about this? From what I understand, angels are all warriors and very strong. For them to look like beautiful women or little babies seems decetful and against scripture.

Anyone know of any good links on the subject? am I wrong about this? are some angels beautiful blond women?

I don’t really know whether the Church has anything to say about the subject, but I ask you, “Does the heavenly choir need sopranos?” 🙂

Angels are purely spirit and there for have no gender. We as humans feel like we have to put a gender on everything, so we will make angels appear as either male or female. Neither is wrong though I think it just helps us to understand.

Angels are pure spirits although sometimes they take the form of a person when they appear to us. When artists choose to depict an angel as a child or beautiful girl, they are merely trying to portray purity and innocence and other virtues associated with being angelic.

Since angels do not have bodies, they do not have a gender. They may appear as a man, but it doesn’t make them masculine. So with that in mind, I don’t think portraying angels as warriors is really accurate either. :nope:

The Bible depicts angels as warriors, as messengers, and as worshipers of God. I believe different angels have different roles. We define God as masculine (not male), in large part because He has strongly implied we should do so, but also because His role is very masculine. I don’t think it’s heretical to believe that there are angels that have feminine roles.

We really know very little about angels. The bible does not give us much information. In fact, the bible only mentions the name of three of them: Michael, Raphael and Gabrielle.(I probably misspelled his name) Although Michael is depicted as a warrior, that doesn’t mean that every other angel is a soldier. They seem to have a variety of jobs and roles.

when angels appear in scripture they take on human form, and are depicted as masculine. Angels are pure spirit, have no gender or sex traits. They can assume any appearance they want and will do so to meet the needs of their mission. Angels appear as warriors when that image will convey to humans what they need to understand the situation. That is why Michael is depicted as a soldier (usually Roman for some reason, probably because of the vision of one of the early popes).

Since angels may take on any form, there is nothing inherently wrong with depicting them as female or as children–cherubim are often pictured this way, probably to convey their total innocence of sin. If the message being conveyed in the art is kindness, gentleness, innocence, joy, beauty etc., whatever image works is fine.

What is offensive, in my mind, is angels presented with human traits that are sinful or border on disrespect, such as dressed immodestly, using crass or insulting language, as cartoon figures etc. Angels are messengers from God, and everything about them should suggest that and not detract from that role.

Just because a human artist fails in accurately depicting the angelic nature, does not make his art satanic, just imperfect.
 
Being they consist of pure spirit, do angels really have gender?:confused:
 
There was a very good show about angels on EWTN. I think it was on Abundant Living. Maybe you can go to their web site and get a copy of the tape. It was very informative.

Like the others have said: no gender and purely spiritual. Why they are called “he” I don’t know because I picture my guardian angel as a she 🙂

In heaven there is no use for sexual differences, as it's purpose has an earthly purpose.  People that go to heaven will not be identified by their gender, although their physical features
will remain the same because their bodies will join the soul eventually.

God, unlike ourselves, does not place the relevance of sex outside of it's purpose and environment. Proof of this is when he made a woman more powerful than all the fallen angels by making her Queen of Heaven. She reigns over other beings in heaven as well.

Hi Sue, the only female demon I can think of off the top of my head is Lilith. From The Encyclopaedia of Religion on Lilith:

Hi Andy, if there are no sexual differences in heaven then it follows that there would be no queens. after all, queens are female which is a sexual difference.

that’s really interesting. I wonder if that’s the woman, who is some Jewish folklor is called the fe-male half of the deity. you ever see Spock from Star Trek do his “live long and prosper” hand thing? well, Leonard Nemoy is Jewish and I learned that that jeasure was some kind of a Jewish blessing. then on jeapordy, they made referance to a goddes in Jewish folklore (don’t remember her name or the name of the book that she came from) anyway, Nemoy wrote a book about her and how his hand jeasure is a salute to her. sorry, I am bad with names and stuff, so I can’t reference my material. I am a huge trekkie nerd and I just pick up tid bits here and there on different things. but I am thinking that’s the name from jeapordy. wierd! thanks for sharing.
 
The only female angels I can think of in scripture are at

We would also need to conclude that Jesus could just as well not be King.

My point was her gender, that is part of her material nature, was not a deterrent from giving her such status. The nature follows the body, and in heaven gender holds no purpose.

She was made Queen because she is God’s mother, and her gender was not a factor that would limit her powers.

The definitive answer to this question, “are female angels satanic?” Is absolutely “YES”. The reason? Absolutely every female is satanic!!! This is the experience of a married man of 36 years with a daughter!
