**This is my 2nd post, and as I explained in my 1st, I’m “returning home to the Church after many years”. So please forgive me if my questions sound dumb.

Do priests still bless homes or religious items ? If so, when and where do you ask? My priest usually disappears right after Mass. If you call the rectory office, you get a recording of the Mass schedule. As a child I remember my parents always speaking to Father after Mass at the back (or entrance) of the Church 👍, occasionally inviting him to dinner, asking him to bless a new rosary or another religious item, etc. Are priests just too busy or too few for this today?

Finally, what is an acceptable stipend today if a church member can find a priest who is willing or has the time for blessing a home or item ;)?****

Yes, homes are definitely still blessed! My priest probably blesses a home every week or so. To thank him, maybe you could prepare him a nice dinner. If he’s really busy, he probably doesn’t have time to cook good food on his own.

If he rushes away after Mass, maybe he has another commitment immediately after that Mass time? He might have more time to talk after a different Mass.

Priests will bless your home, your fields, your dog, etc.

I also agree that it is nice to bring your priest in for a good home cooked meal as a way of saying thanks for providing the blessing.

Yes of course by apointment but you can also bless your own house with special prayers and holy water. My own family has done this many time and it tends to render a feeling of peace. I’ve seen it work wonders. Come to think about it I should do this with my place. 👍

Firstly - do just try the rectory office again. The recording is probably just there so that people who just want Mass times don’t leave messages, and if you listen through to the end of the Mass times you might be invited to leave your name and number, or given another number to call or something.

If that doesn’t work, just go to church early, before Mass, and talk to him then. Don’t be afraid to knock on the vestry door and go right in if you need to - just explain that it’s the only way to gt in touch with him.

Yes they do and also consider having them bless your vehicle while they are there. He may look at you weird, although we have not had one priest refuse to bless a vehicle yet. 😃

We personally gave our priest $25.00 for our first house that he blessed. Our second house we gave him $40.00, because we could afford more and he had to drive further. We gave him $30.00 when he blessed our retail store. Really it depends on how much we have in my DH wallet at the time although we did take into consideration how far he had to drive.

Ok, I think I just lost a post here. So, if this is a duplicate, please forgive me.

Anyway, what I was going to say was: I’ve had my place blessed and any payment would be considered a stipend and would be along this lines of how much you can afford.
