You couldn’t be more mistaken.

It wasn’t that long ago that I was in high school. People were bullied.

It matters. Saying “who cares” is not dealing with the issue. Right now, the “opinion” formed by some is that homosexuals are born this way, but “maybe” and “maybe not” do not matter, because laws are being passed based on the premise that they are born this way.

It’s important to get the facts.

Peace,
Ed
No, Homosexuals are not born that way.
God would not condemn them in his word and then make them that way.
God gives us a choice. We know when we are doing wrong.
He has blessed us with a conscious.
God created us male and female. God then said, “Be fruitful and mutitply.”

This is now getting off the topic of discussion which is “are homosexuals born with this disorder?”

And it is my fault. I should have added to my first post that high schools and junior high schools did not teach this topic in the 1960s and early 1970s. Why some people are homosexuals was discussed in college classes by doctors going for their degrees in psychiatry because they needed to understand various mental illnesses. Now this issue is taught in junior high and high schools. I do not see psychiatrists teaching classes at junior high or high schools. So maybe the real experts are not instructing children about the serious consequences by acting out perverse sexual behavior.

Sorry. Seems I keep putting my foot in my mouth with discussions of boys committing sodomy. I don’t approve of it.

I’m done with this discussion. Sorry for upsetting you boys.

I’m a high school teacher. The short of it is that it is to some extent not a choice in men and mostly a choice in women.

In a certain percentage of the population sexuality seems to be fluid. Only about 1% or so of women are exclusively lesbian according to what statistics have been compiled on the subject.
Perhaps another 5 percent or more of women will engage in lesbian behavior, but are also attracted to men. Among men the percentage of exclusive homosexuals is about 2 to 3 %. Maybe another 2 to 3 % will engage in homosexual behavior, but are also attracted to women.
These statistics are somewhat general, but they are supported by studies both in England and Canada.

Neither the cause of exclusive lesbianism in women nor homosexuality in men is known. The apriori argument that God wouldn’t create homosexuals is based on a misunderstanding of Christian anthropology. The immortal soul created by God is sinless at the moment of creation, but it is incarnated in human matter which is subject to sin from the moment of conception. It is this taint of original sin with whiich all human beings are born and which results in the disordering of the passions from which all human beings suffer as well as the corruption of the will which inclines it to prefer its own desires to the Divine Will, and hence to commit sin.

Hence it is entirely true to say that all people are sinners and that they are born not made. It is through God’s grace that we are justified and thus remade. Unfortunately, this truth is now generally ignored by many Catholics who for all practical purposes hold a Pelagian view of grace. but of course, this is another topic.

If I am off-thread, I apologize, but I wish to reply to Cinette:

Not every reproductive, mouth, or colorectal cancer is tied to promiscuous sexual behavior, either homosexual OR heterosexual. To claim otherwise places an unfair stigma on people with these diseases at a very scary time in their lives.

Also, as a former teacher, I can attest that we do teach moral behavior and expect our students to display it. However, we also preach this: regardless of whether we support the “nature” or “nurture” view of homosexuality, there are people in all of our lives who are homosexual - they, along with the rest of us, are entitled to basic human rights, including the right to be treated with dignity.

Again, I apologize if I am off-thread.

I’m pretty certain some are born with it, and some adapt the lifestyle just for the “look at me, I’m gay and do gay people stuff” aspect. I’ve noticed some kids at the local high school often seem to overdo their homosexuality and most often they have come from California.

However I really do believe people can be born with the actual disorder. Think about it. If people can be born handicapped, special talents, cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, etc. Why can’t they be born with the tendency to be attracted to the same sex? Again I’m sure for some people it isn’t real, but there are some people who really do appear to be legit homosexuals. Even so the church teachings apply in any case.

You know 30 years ago if a boy said he was a homosexual, he would have his face broken by other boys. If he continued to be a public homosexual, he would end up in a hospital or sometimes a grave. Seems we can no longer give this rough justice anymore. Anyway now boys are wearing make up in high school and no one can stop them. It’s not politically correct but the fact is that fear works. Homosexuals kept their mouths shut. Who cares if they were born homosexual or fell into it. Just keep quiet about it. 🤷
Statement reflects some high emotion; most likely the people around him would think him fruity, some would disassociate themselves from him. I don’t know if you were around 30 years ago; I was.

According to Christian author and ex-homosexual, Joe Dallas and Catholic therapist, Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, many transition to this behavior early on during their early years of childhood and that it can be diverted.
**In fact, Dallas has converted **many back to heterosexuality.

**Unfortunately for many young people, homosexual experimentation has become ****fashionable ****and chic because of today’s ****blurred **sexual moirés.

When I was in high school over 25 years ago, we knew of only 1 or 2 professed homosexual students.
**When I recently asked my confirmation students what the ratio was today at the same school – I was shocked to learn that ****many **of their friends often experiment with homosexuality and that is was considered to be “no big deal”.
Nicolosi from the antigay fringe froup NARTH and the other “pray away the gay” groups think that homosexuals had a distant father and an overbaring mother. This has been dicredited by mainstream health authorities long ago. And really, if you thik about it, it’s just plain ridiculous. Many gays and lesbian gad good relationships with theor parents and pany straight people had poor relationships. These so- called ex-gay groups have been unable to come up woth any peer reviewed studies to support their claims. The most these “reparative” therapy types can achieve is to shame religious gays into hiding their sexual orientation. All the mainstream health authoritoes warn against this type of “therapy” because it is ineffective and harmful.

See the APA’s 2009 task force report into “reparative” therapy:

Here are some studies from the last 10 years:
“The fetal brain develops during the intrauterine period in the male direction through a direct action of testosterone on the developing nerve cells, or in the female direction through the absence of this hormone surge. In this way, our gender identity (the conviction of belonging to the male or female gender) and sexual orientation are programmed or organized into our brain structures when we are still in the womb. There is no indication that social environment after birth has an effect on gender identity or sexual orientation.”

“Brain scans have provided the most compelling evidence yet that being gay or straight is a biologically fixed trait.
The scans reveal that in gay people, key structures of the brain governing emotion, mood, anxiety and aggressiveness resemble those in straight people of the opposite sex.
The differences are likely to have been forged in the womb or in early infancy”

There is a long-standing debate on the role of genetic factors influencing homosexuality because the presence of these factors contradicts the Darwinian prediction according to which natural selection should progressively eliminate the factors that reduce individual fecundity and fitness. Recently, however, Camperio Ciani, Corna, and Capiluppi (Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, Series B: Biological Sciences, 271, 2217-2221, 2004), comparing the family trees of homosexuals with heterosexuals, reported a significant increase in fecundity in the females related to the homosexual probands from the maternal line but not in those related from the paternal one.”

Plus, BEING gay is not a sin- DOING homosexual activities is a sin.

Plus there are many different sins- and truth be told- many gay people are likely more holy than I- that’s for sure!
There is a lot of support that the Bibical verses used against homosexuals were only referring to abusive sexual behaviour like rape or idolatrous male temple prostitution (qadesh in Hebrew) used in worshipping fertility gods and goddesses or like Romans 1 - gentiles who had been converted to Christianity reverting to worshipping the Roman fertility gods and godesses in the temples. These practices involved (as many fertility cults did) using orgiastic sex - which would also include males penetrating males, females penetrating males with phalluses etc.

Plus, there is no mention of lesbians in the Bible. - No, not even in Romans 1. If you read it (especially in the original Koine greek) it does not actaully state that women were having sex with women. Anyway, in context, what Paul was referring to was early converts going back to their original gods - nothing really to do with homosexuality.

Are homosexuals born with this disorder? I have never heard a definitive answer on this subject. I believe this behavior is not learned, but if it happens at birth, why would God place such a heavy cross on any human being he created?
1, It’s not a disorder.
2. It’s not learned behaviour
2. God didn’t make it a heavy cross, mankind did.

there is not a shred of scientific proof for this theory. There is some evidence that at least in some cases hormonal or other chemical influences on the mother can effect the baby, mostly from animal studies. There is no evidence at all of a genetic link or a “gay gene.” Not a whit. nada.

.
See my list of studies from the last 10 years. And there are many more studies that you may not be aware of. So, sorry, you are incorrect in your statements.

But the actions of homosexuals pushing for marriage point only one way. On TV, a gay man yelled, “I was born like this!”

Wouldn’t a definitive analysis be a good thing? At present, the push for gay rights hinges on their being accepted as a natural sexual orientation variant. With all due respect to gay people, including those I’ve known, isn’t some type of analysis appropriate?

According to the Catholic Medical Association, gay people are not born that way.

Here is an article from another group that addresses the born that way question:

narth.com/docs/istheregene.html

The Christian community has offered homosexual persons a coherent message of hope, however, gay activists simply want to encourage gay behavior. The Catholic Church has never told heterosexuals to just run around and have sex with whoever, married or not. That this message was heavily marketed starting in the late 1960s is not the Church’s fault.

Peace,
Ed
Using NARTH as a source of information on homosexuality is like asking a Young Earth Creationist about Evolution.

I do believe it is psychologically damaging to live a life in which these three elements are not in alignment - or concordance - and I realize this goes against the Catholic faith. A common argument is that gays CAN have heterosexual sex, therefore why don’t they simply choose that? Gays CAN marry individuals of the opposite sex, so why don’t they just do that? This is promoting a life of discordance and often of failed marriages. So many homosexuals try to get into a heterosexual marriage only to wind up divorcing. I will say that celibacy is the far better option, but to claim that since homosexuals are physically capable of performing heterosexual sex they should simply “choose” that option is - once again - completely ignoring the orientation/feelings/affections category of sexuality as I mentioned earlier. Just try imagining yourself (if you are heterosexual) having sex with someone of the same sex…You can DO it, right? But it just doesn’t work. There’s no feeling. There’s no attraction.

Furthermore, although most agree that homosexuality is a combination of genetics, epigenetics, and environmental stimuli, I would like to tackle what I believe are some other misconceptions about how environment affects homosexuality.

I think when people mention environment, they immediately think about things like family and friends. I was raised by two heterosexual Catholic parents. Our family is very conservative. I attended Catholic school for nine years. I never met someone gay until high school, but before high school I definitely knew I had same-sex attractions. All of my friends were straight males. I never had gender issues (i.e. I never had a liking for stereotypically “girly” things). I played baseball, I played video games with my friends, I had a very normal and boring childhood. I was never molested or raped. I have always had a wonderful relationship with my dad. I have always had plenty of male role models in my life. So why am I gay?

My point here is, the environmental “causes” people often cite do not apply to me at all. I had a loving father. I had no gay friends so I wasn’t “influenced” or drawn to join the culture (whatever that means…it still boggles my mind when people mention the “gay lifestyle”). I wasn’t bullied, I wasn’t feminine (people often claim that feminine boys are bullied into becoming gay…nonsense), I was raised in a completely wonderful, loving, and religious atmosphere!

There is absolutely no proof that a man lacking a close relationship with his father or a woman lacking a close relationship with her mother leads to homosexuality. There is no proof that any of these things I’ve mentioned cause homosexuality. NO ONE KNOWS THE CAUSES. But I can say that, from my own personal experience, I think it probably is more of a genetic or epigenetic or biological thing than an environmental one. Obviously, that is just me speaking, and I’m no scientist…but I often think of myself as an exception to the stereotype, and I think it’s worth noting that I still wound up having same-sex attractions despite having everything that my straight friends had during my childhood.

People often claim that kids are “drawn” to the gay culture (once again, whatever that is) because they are looking for a place to fit in…but that too is utter NONSENSE. It actually kind of upsets me. Watch the news. Homosexual kids are committing suicide. If a kid is being bullied for seeming overly feminine and “gay” (once again, nothing to do with homosexuality…I wish society would figure that out soon), he is NOT going to suddenly think, “Oh! Maybe I am gay! I am going to start fantasizing about men!” It simply doesn’t work like that. And furthermore, that kid is not going to find a gay community in elementary school in the first place.

Phew. Well, thank you for reading and I hope you try and see this from my perspective. I don’t think there’s actually much opinion in my post in the first place…but I think a lot of people simply do not understand homosexuality because they do not know any homosexuals. Do yourself a favor and go meet one. Talk it out! I can ASSURE you that none of them woke up one day and decided to be homosexual, and I can ASSURE you that most of them had perfectly normal childhoods.

Again, thanks for reading. I know a lot about the Catholic faith and I know how well-meaning you all are. I think it’s a shame that some Catholics simply don’t get it and fail to realize that they are hating the sinner rather than the sin. And in all fairness, there is quite a bit of ungrounded “anti-Catholic” sentiment out there regarding homosexuality, and they too are mistaken.
Great post. One of the common misconceptions I’ve seen is that when scientists use the word “environmental”, it includes pre-natal influences like hormones, or birth order. They basically mean anything other than genetic, but many people assume this means the way a child is raised.

You might be interested in what the American Academy of Pediatrics has to say:

“There is no scientific evidence that abnormal parenting, sexual abuse, other adverse life events, or early childhood experiences influence sexual orientation”

Sorry if I sound blunt, but if homosexuality and sodomy are sins then we cannot be born that way. Have we strayed so far away that we replaced “born that way” with “created that way?” God is not the author of sin.
Or perhaps homosexuality is not a sin then?

The Biblical texts are rather clear that sacred male and female shrine prostitutes worshipping the Canaanite fetility gods are condemned, (qadesh and qadesha). The KJV version used the word “sodomites” in Deuteronomy 23:17 and 1 Kings 22:46, 1 Kings 15:12, and 2 Kings 23:7 when translating the Hebrew word “qadesh”. Later versions used the more correct translation of male shrine prostitutes.

Leviticus 18:22 comes directly after a verse “Do not give any of thy children to be consecrated to the idol Moloch” (Canaanite god) and before a verse about having sex with animals - a practice used by the Egyptians in worshipping fertility gods. These are idolatrous practices. The Hebrew word to’evah (translated as abomination) was often used in the context of idolatry.

Philo of Alexandra (a contempory of Paul) discussed Leviticus 18:22; 20:13 and Deuteronomy 23:17 as referring to shrine prostitution.

In 1 Romans, Paul also refers to those who had reverted back to using sex in idolatrous worshipping practices. (eg read up on the Roman fertilty goddess Cybele or the Greek fertility goddess Aphrodite - worshipped in Corinth at the time Paul wrote 1 Romans)

For those who think Sodom was destroyed because of homosexuals - read
Ezekiel 16:49 “Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.”

and

Luke 10:10 -12 “But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’ tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.” Jesus then goes on to tell the story of the Good Samaritan.

or the Jewish encylopedia on the laws of hospitality at that time:
jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=937&letter=H

and

Judges 19 - where there is similiar story to that of Lot protecting the strangers under his roof. In this story of the Levite, a gang of men threatened to rape the Levite stranger but ended up raping his female concubine all night.

and

“Historically, the rape of males was more widely recognized in ancient times. Several of the legends in Greek mythology involved abductions and sexual assaults of males by other males or gods. The rape of a defeated male enemy was considered the special right of the victorious soldier in some societies and was a signal of the totality of the defeat. There was a widespread belief that a male who was sexually penetrated, even if it was by forced sexual assault, thus “lost his manhood,” and could no longer be a warrior or ruler. Gang rape of a male was considered an ultimate form of punishment and, as such, was known to the Romans as punishment for adultery and the Persians and Iranians as punishment for violation of the sanctity of the harem (Donaldson, 1990).”

ncvc.org/ncvc/main.aspx?dbName=DocumentViewer&DocumentID=32361

So perhaps it’s only really using male/male sex practices in the context of idolatrous worship of fertility gods, or rape of strangers, that was being referred to by the biblical writers.

Neither of these practices are specific to male homosexuals. Male shrine prostitutes were not necessarily homosexual and may also have had ritual sex with women. Straight men using rape of other men to humilate and dominate them has occurred all throughout history and still goes on in places like prison or in war. It does not make these men homosexuals.

And there is no reference at all to lesbians in the Bible. The scripture often used against lesbians is Paul’s 1st letter to the Romans. However Paul does not actually state that women were having sex with each other - most people just read that into the text. During ritual sex practices in temples to fertility gods, women also penetrated men with phalluses for example - which would be condsidered an “unnatural” role for women in a patriachal culture.

So maybe it’s just male temple prostitution, ritual sex practice in temples to the Canaanite or Roman fertility gods and male rape that is condemned. But these practices hardly describe homosexuality in general, or homosexuals in the 21st century.

It doesn’t surprise that me males in our society are the most likely to exhibit these problems ; after all, male dress is still firmly masculine :** it is the women who cross-dress in our society** en masse. It really shouldn’t be a surprise that the modern woman’s indoctrination to act like men, to be careerists and to directly compete (rather than support and compliment) men, has destroyed authentic feminity in our culture, and by consequence sexualized masculinity. It shouldn’t be a surprise that men have become more effeminate, as by-and-large they have been emasculated by society and stripped of all authority.

Transference is an extremely easy psychological phenomenon ; that is, it is very easy for the mind to transfer ideas and attitudes from like to like. If women are not disctinct in our society in dress and manner, and by their nature sexualize their apparels and demeanours, and if they are sexualizing their clothing and self-imposed and unnatural pursuit of manliness, it makes drawing the line between male and female more difficult, especially for men. If women by their example glamourize independence and power and consequently sexualize them in the mind, then a man growing up in today’s world will have a difficult time not seeing symbols of independence, power or authority as sexual.

If there is someone to blame for the increase in homosexuality in the West, then quite frankly it is the Church leadership. The Apostles whose successors they are and the whole of Scripture uniformly condemn cross-dressing as “abominable.” When else do we see this word used by God ? When condemning homosexuality as “an abomination,”

“A woman shall not be clothed with man’s apparel, neither shall a man use woman’s apparel: for he that doeth these things is** abominable **before God.”
[Deuteronomy 22:5]

Notice that God does not say “she or he” that does such things is “abominable,” but only “he,” even though this passage condemns both male female cross-dressing also. It would appear that a woman who cross-dresses is reckoned as a man for all intents and purposes, and has divorced herself (as it were) from her feminity.

And,

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is** abomination**,” (Leviticus 18:22)
And,

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them” (Leviticus 20:13),

And,

“There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel” (Deuteronomy 23:17).

This last quote is interesting. Notice that in our society those things (even to this day) most roundly and uniformly condemned by traditional sentiments of sexuality is i) female promiscuity, and ii) (especially male) homosexuality.

Priests and Bishops should uniformly and frequently condemn cross-dressing by women, and not permit them to partake in confession or the Eucharist until they start dressing like women again.

For more on this, please see “Those Who Serve God Should Not Follow the Fashions,” by Robert T. Hart.

Pax,
Tim
  1. You are using the word “tranference” (as used by pschologists) incorrectly.
  2. See my last post on the verses Leviticus 18:22, 20:12 and Deut 23>17. Intersting that you posted them together, as Deut 23:17 is actually referring to “qadesh” and “qadesha” male and female sacred shrine prostitutes.
  3. The word “to’evah” (trabslated as abomination is most often used to describe idolatrous practices.
But here’s a few more places “abomination” is used:
Proverbs 6:16

There are six things which the LORD hates,
Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that run rapidly to evil,
A false witness who utters lies,
And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Proverbs 16:5
“Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the LORD.”

Proverbs 20:10 “Unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the Lord.”

Eating all sorts of animals and birds, and sea creatures that do not have fins and scales is an abomination. Wearing cloth made of mixed fibres is an abomination. Try reading ALL of Leviticus.
  1. Do you believe women should be chattel to men like they were in Biblical times?

ONE important thing worth noting, but not mentioned here, is that GAY ON GAY violence (and exploitation) is huge compared to heterosexual relationships.

Why is this?

For all the millions spent on scientific research in America, and millions more on AIDs research, no one has yet focused on homosexual behavior development.
No doubt your source is some religious anti-gay website like the Family Research Council who routinely misrepresent studies to vilify homosexuals. Which is why they have been listed as a hate group.
splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-files/family-research-council
splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2010/winter/the-hard-liners

There are a lot of religious based websites whose only purpose is to vilify gays and lesbians by spreading myths, lies and negative stereotypes like these:

splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2010/winter/10-myths

Gay and lesbian relationships are not very different to straight relationships. Just like heterosexual couples, gay and lesbian couples can also experience domestic violence. However, there are studies showing that gay and lesbian couples generally handle conflict better than heterosexual couples because they are less likely to experience the gender power imbalance found in many male/female relationships.

Some basic observation over this and similar threads:

1.) oftentimes, homosexuals deeply want to impose “normality” on their action. This may be conscious or unconscious; I suppose we all want to be considered normal, healthy, human beings. (This can cause homosexuals to make harsh comments).

2.) the relationship dynamics between heterosexual and homosexual couples are different.

3.) there really seems to be no definitive answer about how homosexuality occurs; unfortunately, the whole conversation is marred by many erroneous beliefs that came from “old science,” (e.g., Kinsey, genetic bases, nancy boy theories)

4.) there’s, of course, a judgmental thing. This splits in a number of ways (a) judgments about premarital sex in general, (b) judgments about the immorality of homosexuality, (c) judgments about the noted concurrence of pedophilia and homosexuality, (d) judgments about “these evil times in which we live, in which the poisonous, damned liberals have wrecked our society.”

5.) there’s, overall, a deep need for us all to sit back, take a breath, and say, “hey, this isn’t that big a problem. Homosexuals are a tiny, tiny fraction of the population.” Instead, there is a kind of large pressure over all our heads, foisted there by activists pushing along this issue, day in and day out, so we think it’s more important than it really is and feel a more urgent need to dispel their pressure.

6.) Finally, it’s always humorous for me to see the “trot out the barnyard animal” argument; hey it “appears in nature” therefore it’s justified. This is a twist on the fact/value distinction, but one we all should recognize as a fraudulent argument. You don’t take a pee on the elevator even if you have to, and even if a dog would do so in that situation. People can control their behavior. Even lust.

7.) (forgot this, tied to above) There’s the scurrilous old idea that human beings are frantic and panting for sex all the time, that we’re all hormonally-driven teenagers with a perpetual drive ready to go at a moment’s notice. This ain’t true.
It’s late and I don’t have time to address all your points, however bringing up the vile myth that homosexuals are linked to pedophiIia does need to be addressed.

While “fixated” pedophiles are generally ONLY attracted to children (of either sex) and NOT adults, “regressed” pedophiles usually have an adult sexual orientation but sexually abuse children, both boys and girls, in a more opportunistic way as a substitute for sex with an adult woman.

According to studies in this field, as well as surveys of child molestors, most men who sexually abuse children (either boys or girls) are heterosexual.

“Homosexuality and homosexual pedophilia are not synonymous. In fact, it may be that these two orientations are mutually exclusive, the reason being that the homosexual male is sexually attracted to masculine qualities whereas the heterosexual male is sexually attracted to feminine characteristics, and the sexually immature child’s qualities are more feminine than masculine.

The child offender who is attracted to and engaged in adult sexual relationships isheterosexual. It appears, therefore, that the adult heterosexual male constitutes a greater sexual risk to underage children than does the adult homosexual male.” A. Nicholas Groth

and some more studies:

Facts About Homosexuality and Child Molestation

Gay and lesbian relationships are not very different to straight relationships. Just like heterosexual couples, gay and lesbian couples can also experience domestic violence. However, there are studies showing that gay and lesbian couples generally handle conflict better than heterosexual couples because they are less likely to experience the gender power imbalance found in many male/female relationships.

“Gender power imbalance” Yeah. God made them male and female with an inherent “gender power imbalance”.

1Cor 6:9-10

Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites
nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Post all the studies you want. I’ll side with St. Paul and the Church.

It may be inborn, it may be genetic? So what? How the orientation originates simply does not matter. It’s how the individual responds to that inclination that “counts”, theologically speaking.
