Would you then feel “justified” to strap a bomb to yourself and detonate it in a crowded place?
No i would not, i couldnt do something as evil as that. But at the same time i couldnt support a war which was opposed by the Holy Father. If i believe something which condradicts the teachings of the Church, then i always admit that it is i who am wrong.

I dont want to create hostility especially with people of my own faith on a catholic website. All i am saying is that as far as i am aware the Roman Catholic Church opposes-

Terrorism, so therefore so do i
Unjust War (Like Iraq) , So therefore so do i
Poverty and Unregulated Capitalism, So therefore so do i

At least i am consistant, i am saying that a man who straps a bomb to himself and sets it off with the intention of killing people is commiting a very evil and imoral sin, however, i am also saying imperialist agendas which further enhance the wealthy and crush the poor are also very evil and imoral .
I know what you are saying but your language is likely to provoke extreme reactions which cloud the issues that you raise. John Paul II was a tad more elegant in his formulations, read, mark and inwardly digest zenit.org/english/war/visualizza.phtml?sid=24822

SEPT. 8, 2002 (Zenit.org).- As Sept. 11 approaches, John Paul II appealed to world leaders to combat terrorism by fighting its roots, especially injustice and oppression. To respond to terrorism means “to undertake new and creative political, diplomatic and economic initiatives aimed at relieving the scandalous situations of gross injustice, oppression and marginalization which continue to oppress countless members of the human family,” the Pope said Saturday.

“History, in fact, shows that the recruitment of terrorists is more easily achieved in areas where human rights are trampled upon and where injustice is a part of daily life,” the Holy Father said, when receiving the letters of credence of Kathryn Frances Colvin, the new ambassador of Great Britain to the Vatican. “This is not to say that the inequalities and abuses existing in the world excuse acts of terrorism,” he added. “There can never, of course, be any justification for violence and disregard for human life.”

John Paul II condemned all terrorism. “Ultimately, terrorism is built on contempt for human life,” he said, echoing his Message for World Day of Peace 2002. “For this reason, not only does it commit intolerable crimes, but, because it resorts to terror as a political and military means, it is itself a true crime against humanity.”… “However, the international community can no longer overlook the underlying causes that lead, young people especially, to despair of humanity, of life itself, and of the future, and to fall prey to the temptations of violence, hatred and desire for revenge at any cost,” the Pope added…

“In the end, it is in the conversion of hearts and the spiritual renewal of societies that the hope of a better tomorrow lies,” the Pope said. “The building of such a global culture of solidarity is, perhaps, the greatest moral task confronting humanity today,” he stressed. This is the great challenge Western countries face, where Christian values are “now being called into question by alternative cultural models,” the Bishop of Rome added.

These models “are grounded in an exaggerated individualism which all to often leads to indifferentism, hedonism, consumerism and a practical materialism that can erode and even subvert the foundations of social life,” he concluded.

What i said
when i see social/economic systems which produce vast inequalities in wealth redistribution i will denounce them, when i see countries spending vast amounts of money on war and nuclear weapons rather than on programms of social uplift i will denounce them, when i see so called Christian leaders( and this is not only Bush as Blair,Chirac etc are all Christians too) paying lip service to proper humanitarian trade agreements/debt cancelations i will denounce that also.

What I said
History shows time and time again that Fascism/Marxism/Terrorism all prevail when people are faced with extreme poverty or injustice.

What I said
islamist terror is fueled and helped to grow by a greedy capitalist/imperialist western agenda.---------The West with their inhumane and anti Christian social and economic system of capitalism

If my lanugage offended people then i am sorry, but since i made no specific reference to any country or any race but only social and economic systems then i cant see how some may be offended.

I really dont see the need for me to go any further on this thread, i am against both terrorism and imperialism/capitalism, if perhaps due to my insufficient use of the English lanuage i have not portrayed this in my previous posts then i am sorry. If it appeared that i was justifying terrorism then i am sorry, i wasnt and never will. I was only attempting to show that from the most extreme areas of injustice come the most extreme levels of reply. Whether that be religious extremism or political extremism like marxism or fascism. My point is now and always will be that the best and most compassionet way to rid the world of terrorism is to combat the reasons for its development---- injustice.

Reuben J:
Just curious, bro. Is there any particular reason to single the Islamic charities?

Charities rise above any creeds and nationalities. But then again what are we trying to get at here?
In the Chicago area we have heard a lot about Islamic charities funding terrorist groups like Hamas and I have not heard anything about them helping the hurricane victims. Some others misunderstood my post saying I have not seen anything about charities other than United Way, Red Cross and Salvation Army. I am well aware of the contributions from the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Charities and individual parishes and parishioners. I just wondered if the Islamic community was doing the same and the MSM was not reporting it.
