I answer the door naked and covered in green jello.

I’m sure there are laws against that friend! At least I hope there is…

Well, until the neighbors start complaining, I won’t worry about it.

Can you add to these lists?

I once said, “If you are right and I honor Jehovah, but in my ‘ignorance’ mistake the Bible and think that Jesus is divine, will I go to hell?” They answered, “No.” Then I said, “Well, if I’m right and you aren’t giving Jesus the honor that He is due, you could be in big trouble.” They beat a hasty retreat after that. 👍

They’ll always answer “no” about going to hell because they don’t believe in hell. According to the Watchtower, we heathens are simply going to be annihilated.

I can’t save JWs who don’t want to listen, but I did get the kids to lose interest in the JWs quickly when I explained what else the they DON"T believe in. “What, they don’t celebrate Christmas and birthdays? No presents? That’s not for me, mom!”

Hi Gang:

My wife and I and some friends of mine who are former JWs that have converted to the Catholic Faith have formed an apostolate. We run a website and are applying for 501 C3 status.

Our goals are to help JWs and former JWs come home to the Catholic Church and to assist Catholics in dialoguing with their JW friends and relatives effectively.

Our website is www.catholicxjw.com

Keep checking back as we will be adding some more articles soon and we will have a quarterly newsletter available shortly.

We also hope to publish and distribute books on the Catholic faith and on how to witness to JWs in our soon to be opened book store section of our website.

And…we are planning a conference for the summer of 2006.

Please pray for us that the Lord will bless this effort as part of the New Evangelization.

to interpret the jw bible literally…144000 people will make it to heaven. i think there there are more than 144000 jws, entonces, who is to be left out???, why do they need more if heaven is already fully booked?
144,000 go to Heaven. The rest of us–and I do mean EVERYONE who has not joined the JW’s and been excommunicated, get to live together peaceably on Paradise Earth. I think the baptised JW’s get to lord it over those of us who don’t convert–we’re left in the role of perpetual slaves. I am NOT profoundly acquainted with the JW’s theology and could be quite incorrect abut who does or does not get to abide on Paradise Earth. I do know that a handful of slots for the 144,000 are thought to still be ‘open’ due to the apostasy of some of those who declared themselves to be among that number. Not much more I can add.

Oh–the JW’s are largely stagnant in the US and Europe, if you actually figure in the number of those who apostatise, deaths, inactives, etcetera. One has to compare the number of ‘publishers’ and the number of ‘baptisms’ --takes a bit of footwork to see the decline because the JW’s own Almanac plays footsy with the numbers to mask proplems. Their real growth is in the Third World. Some talk recently about some Kingdom Halls consolidating. Again-this is largely derived from critics of the JW’s who may themselves not be as accurate as they might. It does ring true with what some JW’s have said to me privately in honest moments. (I once had some in-laws who were devout JW’s). They try to put a brave face on things but I think there is considerable concern. Hence the big ‘pushes’ at times, especially in neighborhoods where they have some measure of success.

If I may just correct one thing. JW theology has it that
  1. the “144,000” go to heaven
  2. the rest of JWs, known as the “Great Crowd” survive Armageddon on earth.
3)The rest of mankind - annihilated.
And although that’s the official line - many JWs hold to private reservations about all non-JWs being killed off at Armageddon.

I should prabably clarify #3 in my last post. I should have said:
  1. The rest of mankind who are alive at Armageddon - annihilated.
This is because they say that the majority of people who died before Armageddon will have what amounts to a second chance (in contradiction to Hebrews 9:27 …it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgement):

by taking part in a resurrection to earthly life that occurs throughout the thousand years (in contradiction to Revelation 20:5 …the rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed)

We’ve had a big push of them in our nieghborhood lately. I posted about this in another thread, but the last visit ended badly. They really wanted to come in the house, but I wouldn’t let them. It would freak my kids out too much. (I’ve said this in another thread too, my oldest two are autistic). They gave me their literature and asked if they could come back. I told them no and to please leave. They persisted. I live across from a cemetary and there was a big funeral. I asked them if they really wanted to make a scene. They left. They came back the next week when my husband was here. He also told them we weren’t interested and to please leave. They were physically pushing and tryin g to get in the door. This really did freak my kids out. So my husband steped outside and backed them away from the door. He tried to explain that they were upsetting the boys and to please leave. They still persited to the point where my DH took the one who was doing the most talking by the sholder and escorting him to the gate. The man stood in our drive way and called the cops claiming he was assulted. Of course, he wasn’t and there was no evidence to support that. The cop gave them a good talking to (apparently there had been complaints by other neighbors) and they ended up with a fine since what they are doing is illegal in our township.
I work with a couple JW’s and they are not as aggresive as the story you have related. Next time call the police and let them dotheir job. You won’t risk any liability that way. If you have to, get a restraining order.

Go with God,
Subrosa

I’m still waiting for the day Mormons or JWs knock on our door. None so far. But then that might be a good thing after all…

Thank you very kindly for this website and the link to it. It is helpful for those of us who have come into contact with JW.
My own experience with the JW has led me to believe that they are sincere and dedicated people, and I have to respect them for taking the verbal beating that they must take as they go door to door with their message. My own approach is to simply go over with them the Catholic point of view on whatever issue that they might bring up.

They don’t flood my area, but sometimes they come in waves.

My Grandpa has told me stories about the JW’s around WWII. They all of course sighted religous reasons for not being drafted. Thus, my Grandpa said many of the male JW’s would have “relations” with the lonely wifes of men over seas. He also said they were always coming after my great great grandpa.
I haven’t had any at my house, but I’ve seen them twice at my Grandparents. I guess they are still targeting the elderly up here.

The last time they stopped by, I think was around Easter. The same little old lady comes everytime, you would think she’d remember the house with the big black dog that snarls, growls, and lunges at her, but she apparently doesn’t. Everytime they stop by I have to physically restrain my normally docile black lab. This last time they tried to get me to take their watchtower thing, and I said “honestly, you could leave it here, but it is going directly into the garbage, we are faithful Catholics and have no intention of turning our backs on God.”
They haven’t been back to our house since, but we’ll see, I’m sure they’ll be back around Christmas to tell us that Christ is no longer a child born in a manger…I just hope that we can keep a good hold on Daisy, I truly fear that one day we won’t have a good ehough hold on her and they will try to open the door and she will go after them. She only reacts like that to them. She’s normally the sweetest dog on the block. We get many compliments on her good temperment, except when the JW’s stop by…
