Are "magic tricks" as sinful as the practice of black magic?

Are magic kits mortally sinful? I mean, unlike black magic, these are just tricks that don’t involve “magic” - but only look like magic to the person who doesn’t know how the trick is performed.

On the other hand, I guess they could lead to interest in the cult…

Thoughts?

Magic tricks have nothing to do with the occult. They are harmless, and don’t involve calling on spiritual powers or anything of that kind.
 
They’re just sleight of hand, and an illusion. They don’t mean anything. They are a performance designed to entertain, nothing more. And I think it’s a bit of a stretch to think that they could stimulate interest in the occult in anyone other than the extremely gullible.
 
Hardly. There’s even a patron saint of illusionists and Magicians
 
No they are not. They are NOT really magic, they are sleight of hand tricks, misdirection, etc.

But, when “magicians” perform at “magic” shows, they seem to seem unworldly. (I haven’t really been to any). Some people I know said this “magician” at a ten-minute show made objects levitate, many objects appear out of one object, etc.

Is it sinful to watch that? Because I don’t know how some things I hear about what some famous illusionists do are possible. I’m a little confused.

It is ILLUSION, SLEIGHT OF HAND, MISDIRECTION. It is not sorcery!!

Just because you don’t understand the trick does not mean it can’t be done by skilled illusionists!!!😉

I love magic shows!!
 
performance magic is a really fun thing to see. There is no sorcery at all.

And at the mention I’d actually like to see a show…they’re so fun. Suspention of disbelief.

Magic when some one tell me what will be with me is sin.
But if that is some kind of game than is game not sin.

Magic tricks are just illusions that have been practiced again and again until the “magician’s” movements are so smooth or distracting that you don’t really notice what he is or isn’t doing. It’s a “fool the eye” thing, not black magic where you are doing spells and calling up demons. That’s why they are called “tricks” and not “spells.”

If the performer starts chanting incantations, then you ought to leave the area and say a rosary ASAP, though.

Even if the magician creates an otherworldly atmosphere in his show, there is still no sin because nothing occult is happening, it’s merely an illusion. Most people know it’s just a trick even if they like to see it otherwise during the show.
