Are Mormons Christians?

Just yesterday 2 Mormons walked up to my door just as i was getting home from work. We had a good spirited (but friendly) talk, witch I thought I was doing well, until I told them they weren’t even Christians they did not take this well & asked me where i got that from & i couldn’t answer them.I told them I had read it some where. They wanted to know from who & why they are not Christians, I had nothing HELP (i know this has been asked before so if you want just direct me to that answer.thank you very much terry (moparman 1)
