And waking up this am, there are Mormons out there that give the impression that Christ is not fully God and left before He finished the job of establishing the true faith and His Church through the apostles and their successors.

‘I aint finished yet’…not 1800 years later with incomplete teaching and only now…with all the people between His time and ours, He wasn’t shepherding His flock.
This has always been a sticking point for me too. The promises of the New Testament being violated so soon after the crucifixion & resurrection is nonsensical. Also the story in the BoM, how a lost tribe of Israel came to be in America…is beyond belief.

I get how those born in to the LDS faith can believe they are part of the one true church but I’ve never understood how those coming from a Christian belief system could buy into it.

I suppose if you come from a Catholic or Protestant congregation that is anonymous, where people hardly know each other let alone care for each other, and especially where there is weak doctrinal formation, it is very easy to be attracted to Mormonism, or other things.

I have seen Catholic individuals, and entire Protestant denominations, accept legal abortion, same sex “marriage”, and a whole host of irrationalisms that totally repudiate the “Christian belief system”.

But those Catholics and others who do so are not following the consistent teaching of the Catholic faith. Big difference.

And you have to know about the culture of nice and what others can come up with if they don’t go along with Mormon leadership either…of course, depending on where you live.

So there is the cultural presence of nice and caring…and there are parishes where people are caring and personable. We are working on ours with 8,000 registered members…coming out of alot of wrong catechesis in the Church as well as scandals.
