Ah, I see…“Bart” is not Orthodox enough for you. Well, have fun being a church unto yourself. Sorry we’re all such terrible sinners who have fallen short of your grace. 🤷

That is not my attitude.

I don’t hold Bart as a criterion of Orthodoxy. Frankly, I don’t hold him Orthodox at all.
Re: Are Muslims Worshipping the same God as the Jews & Christians?

Can **YOU **answer the topic of the thread???

JC & DZ: ~

I can’t stand it anymore!

Perhaps it’s because I come from both religious backgrounds.

Catholics & Greek Orthodox… I JUST can’t take it anymore.

Topic:
Returning to the actual point of the thread. As I say I believe Muslims do worship the same God but in a very imperfect manner indeed and with a very distorted understanding.
Agreed! And no worries DZ, I will not bring up CCC… (what’s that number again???) 😛
Also I grow weary of every so often having to explain to Muslims that we do not worship three gods.
Yes, it does get  after so many times repeating the same ol’’

Hahaha…you are too much, Jakasaki! 😃

I guess that’s why I’ve (shamefully? tactfully?) avoided addressing the OP myself…not only because I’ve had enough of the OP’s constant harping on one particular issue across multiple threads, but because I feel like we’ve been over this so often…sort like how Jharek feels about the idea of the Holy Trinity being “three gods” (another cringe-worthy idea to me, but less so than the topic of this thread, because at least then I’m not arguing with other Christians).

I can’t besure of the CCC# (indeed if it is there, but I would be supprised if it wasn’t addressed) however, Mulsims do indeed (very imperfectly, as previously cited) worship the same God we Christians and Jews do. As much is stated in Vatican II, and Pope Paul VI’s encyclical about the Church in the modern world. It’s hard to get more official than that for a faithful Catholic.

I will be honest in my personal opinion that I question exactly how the Muslims came to this revelation. I have my doubts that what they received is a pure revelation from God… But ultimatly, as God usually does, he has made the most of am imperfect thing and I would put forward that given an honest seeking heart, and a mind open to truth that Islam is capable of leading one towards Christ.

I just thank God that I was given the Grace of being born Christian, and Catholic no less (not meant as a spur to my brothers of other faiths).

Amen to this. For me, Muhammed made it all up and because of his lack of knowledge, the religion of Islam is obviously not in sync with the Holy Bible. There are perhaps many Muslims who are ignorants not fully knowing what they are believing because for them they worship God, the creator of all things. For this reason, those who are sincere in believing God wholeheartedly may get some mercy, hoping that they too may find the truth. For those who insist, May God have mercy on your souls.

That quote seems to also includes Jews and the God they worship i assume?

He’s not, Jharek. He’s throwing mud up against the wall and hoping it will stick. It is the same response they have whenever this topic comes up “Aha! Got you! What about the JEWS? They don’t worship your Christ either!” It came up in my old thread about CCC 841, it comes up here now…it’s more a knee-jerk reaction/Islamic talking point than a real, considered argument based on actually READING anything that the opposition is saying.

The jewish god doesn’t have a son. The jewish god isn’t a trinity. Why is it okay to point this out concerning the god of Islam but not the jewish god?

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me.”

Jesus is God of Abraham.

I am not throwing mud or anything. But i admit i read the Quote wrong. I thought the Quote talks about Jesus is God… yet it seems it just wants to enforce that Jesus Christ came in teh flesh .

Well if he came in the flesh, that i dont have a problem with really. It doesn’t collide with my Islamic belief that Jesus Christ came in the flesh.

Umm… on a different note… whats with all the accusation about diversion , tricks and stuff ? Normally on religious discussions… generally it will reach a dead end . Thats just how things are really . I just made a simple comment and suddenly i was doing diversion?!

I don’t post much here as before. But i can see the threads with Muslim God vs Judeo Christian understanding of God etc.

in Islam … which is my faith so i am gonna talk about it . We identify God as the God of Abraham. With the same nature that Jews assign to him. Yes we disagree about if the bible is his uncorrupted word and if he really did this or that bla bla…

But Muslims and Jews share the same understanding of the nature of God . While in Christianity as i understand it … there is one God as well but this God has three forms or state of biengs or sides.

Simply ask a muslim and a christian and a jew… Is Jesus Christ God? you will get similar answers from the muslim and the jew but not from the Christian.

I dont care about names… you can live your life as a muslim without pronouncing the word ‘‘Allah’’ even once in your life. Doesnt matter really . I worship the God of Abraham . The same God that Abraham worshipped with the same understanding that Abraham had of him. Just simply God. whatever his name is.

I dont understand how my point above is a diversion, throwing mud, not addressing the point…knee-jerk reaction , address the subject under consideration, not reading anything from the other side of the argument etc…

Which God is similar or different between those three Abrahamic faiths. Right?

When i chose to subscribe to this site.( and i have been on it for a while now ) . i chose it because i thought catholics are not as nutty as Evangelicals. I do still believe this is the case. This is the only christian website i subscribe to . I read posts of interest and keep update on arguments . I am sure debates can be frustrating. But i am sure many muslims here dont mean to not address your argument.

Thanks Jharek & Dzheremi… wish to recieve your answers in continue our discussion in a charitable spirit.

I am sorry i read yr Quote quickly the first time… but reading it again… it only emphasis that we should believe that Jesus come in the flesh.

Well Muslims believe that whole heartedly… how could we be the spirit of the Anti christ?

I hope i am not considered to be throwing mud by asking this simple ( and for me seems logical ) question:

Thank you and God bless

With due respect to the entirety of your argument, Meedo, which I personally do not feel it would be wise to address right now (no disrespect is meant to you, I just have a lot of other things on my mind right now and am afraid that I could easily become very uncharitable in this environment due to my own weaknesses), I will point out to you that this is one issue on which myself and Jharek do not even see eye-to-eye, so engaging both of us in order to find a single Christian viewpoint is not going to help you. Jharek has already provided the Catholic viewpoint as supported by the Catechism of the Catholic Church, but I dissent from that view myself, so it is of little use to me to revisit it, or to attempt to argue from within its parameters.

With regard to diversionary tactics, I will have to stand firm and say I call them as I see them, though you or anyone else may disagree (and I admit and apologize that this was not phrased in a charitable manner; as I wrote earlier, I am very used to this particular question coming up, so it seems I have made a mistake in assuming your intentions. Again, I am very sorry about that.). Since the OP presupposes Jews and Christians to be worshiping the same God, I do believe it is diversion to focus on tearing that idea down rather than to focus on Muslims’ possible worship of the God of the Holy Bible (the actual topic of this thread). It would be like a Christian deflecting a question about the Bible by pointing out what he sees as lies in the Qur’an. You can build that bridge if you want to, but it’s really a diversion from the topic at hand.
