Are my sins still forgiven if I don't have to time confess them all?

Hello

My questions centers on confession. I was baptized catholic and attended church as a child. I drifted away from the church but not from religion. I have since returned to the church and went to my first confession in over 30 years. Things have changed quite a bit. I began to confess my mortal sins, but due to time I could not confess everything. So to my question: Did that confession absolve me of all my sins even if I didn’t have time to confess everything?

First, it is unfortunate you were cut short especially in light of the fact you were returning to the Sacrament for the first time in 30 years.

Assuming the priest gave you absolution with valid form (e.g., “I absolve you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit”), and you had the intention to confess the sins you were unable to confess, then you can be sure your sins were forgiven.

The lack of confessing your remaining sins was due to no fault of your own. Consequently, the absolution received would apply to those unconfessed sins.
