The other day my protestant friend told me she was upset with the holy father Ben XVI because he said there is only One True Church.

Now, is it a believe among other religions that the CC is just another denomination? how long has this been going on?
Is it the CC’s fault in letting this believe perpetuate throughout our generations?

I humbly ask everyone’s opinion on this.

The truth is the “Word of God”. Teach and preach the Word of God like Baptist do and you will never be getting farther away from the truth.

I don’t think so. Most Baptists believe in Sola Scriptura and reject our Catholic Tradition (even though the Bible resulted from Tradition.) Not all do, some believe in Prima Scriptura. Some more fundamentalist Baptists insist on contextually literal interpretations of the Bible. Moderate Baptists prefer the term inspired or God-breathed rather than inerrant to describe scripture. The doctrine of “priesthood of all believers” states that every Christian has direct access to God and the truths found in the Bible, without the help of an aristocracy or hierarchy of priests. Baptist thoughts about Baptism and the Holy Eucharist are also far from Catholic.

In short, I don’t understand your statement is light of the fundamental difference between Baptists and the Catholic Church.

so, would say that the CC is just another denomination like any other?

Faiths outside the CC, and the people within these faiths, do not have access to the sanctifying grace that we have available through the Sacrament of Penance and the Eucharist. This leaves them vulnerable in this fallen world. It could be compared to entering a battle zone without a helmet. You can survive but you are at a significant disadvantage. Over time, and without grace, hearts tend to grown hardened and the intellect tends to become more open to ideas like contraception, abortion, female ordination, gay ordination, etc.

As this progresses, many in these ecclesial communities try to correct their brothers and sisters; however, there is no final authority and reference such as our Magisterium in the CC. Disagreements grow and on occations a split occurs. This is why there are 30,000+ denominations of protestant faith today.

The strategy employed by the “evil one” here is:
a) Take out the opposition’s leadership, by removing the Magisterium of The Catholic Church from their faith.
b) Begin a “divide and conquer” program.

With these comments in mind, I believe it is very hard for other faiths to become more like the CC. They cannot get past the state of denial - the first step toward reconciliation. We need to be open however, to those few souls that depart from the other faiths in search of the Truth. We need to be ready to help these people with love and caring.

Great question!👍

Are you talking about the Baptists that started their church in the 1600s or one of the newer Baptist churches that started in the last two hundred years?

By the way, since you can teach the word of God, tell me where I can find scriptures to endorse Sola Scriptura please?

May the peace of the Lord be with you.

Bravo. My thoughts exactly.

What most amuses me about other Christians is that they all seem to think they have dibs on Christianity, totally ignoring the fact that for 1,500 years, there was ONE Church and they are the ones who broke away,

One became two
2 became 3
3 became 5
5 became 9
9 became 17
17 became 33
33 became 65
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.
… became +30,000.

But we started as one… and we still are one: the Catholic Church.

This is a no win thread here…you can repeat where our church has come from, you can show the historical evidence, the archeological evidence, the ECF of evidence, the writings on the Catacomb walls evidence, the Scriptures of the NT evidence, the Sacred Tradition of evidence, and so on…but the non-Catholic Christians will see only one thing…as I always say, if you show a Protestant an apple, he’ll say it’s a pear.

i was doing a bit of reading about the so-called “trail of blood”.after reading this it is evident most beleive they don’t need any proof but thier own self existence is the only evidence they need for proof that they are the true church. one line i thought was quite useful goes something like this.there is no writen evidence because it was all destroyed by the catholic church.yet they will identify themselves with all the heritics through the ages yet teach no wheres near the same as those heritics they idenitfy themselves with.good laugh claim from the same source that the Catholic church killed 50,000,000??? presons that beleived as they do.basically any one who even beleives in the "trail of blood"imo is totally lost in ingorance.

In response to the thread title, yes! Look how far from the Truth Baptists and “Non-Denominationals” are compared to Anglicans and Lutherans. The farther they get from the source, the thinner their truth becomes, like watered-down soup.

to the subject at hand some are getting further from the truth every day.it is almost as if when they change pastors they change what they beleive.then again some of them if one didn’t know you could mistake them for a Catholic in some of their teachings and belielfs.

there is only one true church, and that is westboro baptist church! where they will totally clown you on your sins without doing anything about theirs. yawn

Makes me wonder how the Baptists or any other protesant denomination thinks they belong to the one true church when their churches started in the 16th century or even more recent. Calvary Chapel for instance was started in 1965. Why would Christ hide his one true Church from all His people until the 16th century or even as recent as 1965? If as they preach, the Catholic Church is causing so many to go to hell, why did Jesus let it exist and send generation after generation to hell up until the 16th century then let it continue until the present time?

The Catholic Church is just logical. If Spock wasn’t vulcan, I’d bet he’d be a Catholic. 😃

May the peace of the Lord be with you all.

I once got banned from a Baptist website for discussing the 16th century origins of the American Baptists. Their moderators were furious and insisted that they have been around since John the Baptist but have been suppressed by the Catholic Church. Apparently, the Holy Spirit wasn’t strong enough to let Christ’s “true” Baptist church prevail until 1500 years after the Resurrection.

It depends on what viewpoint you use to judge other religions. If you are a practicing Christian or Catholic, the only true religion (or the truest religion) is Christianity, and it is generous to say that other religions have some access to the perfection of truth that exists in Christianity. Speaking from a secular and skeptical viewpoint, the metaphysical ideas and beliefs of all religions are highly questionable, from a range of viewpoints, especially when religions put forward remarkable idiocies like creationism, to try and rival or knock down the remarkable success of science. So it is a question of ‘whose truth’ and ‘whose rationality’ that is used to judge what these concepts mean.

Maybe Jesus’ would be a good idea.
