English is not my first language, so I apologize for any misspellings.

There are so many non-catholics who are serving the Lord Jesus Christ, evangelize people all over the world, defending faith Are they going to hell because they are not catholics?

I believe salvation does not pivot on any church … no church or religious organization can save anyone … although many claim they can . . . . Jesus is the head of the Church and no substitute … salvation pivots on him . . . the church is not to point to itself . . . the church the union of blood bought believers ] . . . those who claim that Jesus is the Christ … the son of the living God . . . . this is salvation and the Rock of the Church . . . only rejectors of Jesus are running to Hell . . . bobgeorge.net/teaching/hebrews/index.html … continue

The Church teachings:
  • Baptism is NECESSARY for salvation, but does not ensure it (you must die in a state of grace)
  • There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church.
How to be baptised and Catholic?
  • Sacramental Baptism as a Catholic.
  • Baptism of Blood (non-Catholic dying for the Catholic faith)
  • Baptism of Desire - Explicit (e.g. those going through the RCIA program)
  • Baptism of Desire - Implicit (those who are invincibly ignorant may (not will) be saved, meaning those who through no fault of their own do not know Christ and his Church but in that ignorance live a life in accordance with his teachings).
Nobody outside the above 4 will be saved.

With regard to invincible ignorance you will hear many differing opinions because the Church does not have a list of people/groups/etc who fall under that and so a person’s opinion is just that. Only God knows who is truly invincibly ignorant.
My personal opinion is that in the main Jews, Muslims, non-Catholic Christians etc do not fall under that umbrella because there is ample opportunity in this age of technology and global communications to seek information about Christ and his Church.
I also believe that an unrepentant (at death) atheist will go to Hell.

non-Catholic Christians etc do not fall under that umbrella
Realize that one becomes a member of the Body of Christ through Baptism. The Catholic Church teaches that non-Catholic Christians have a valid baptism. Also, this video shows how Christ will judge everyone at the Final Judgement.

Christians can be saved as stated above. As long as you are part of the body of Christ. While we can say what will send you to He’ll no one know s your heart but God. He will decide in the end who goes to hell

Short answer, no one knows except for God. That final decision is between them and God. While the road is narrow to the Kingdom of Heaven, God is perfectly just and merciful.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses this multi-faceted issue. You may want to read # 836 - 848. I hope the reference answers your question.

Anyone who is baptised with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is a Christian. I did not say otherwise. That does not mean they fall under the umbrella of invincible ignorance and being baptised per se does not save you.

By the way, we are judged immediately we die which is the Particular Judgement and that determines our destination. The Final Judgement does not change that but rather confirms the Particular Judgement.

Baptism of Desire - Implicit (those who are invincibly ignorant may (not will) be saved, meaning those who through no fault of their own do not know Christ and his Church but in that ignorance live a life in accordance with his teachings).
See, to me, that sounds like “If I live a good life, I’ll go to heaven”.

Not correct. Did you read carefully what I wrote?

You need to fall under one of the 4 baptisms and be Catholic and die in a state of grace to be saved.
Invincible ignorance (whoever may fall under this) means through no fault of your own you do not know Christ and his Church AND live a life in accordance with Christ’s teachings in that ignorance. I hardly think a Methodist, Baptist, Anglican etc can claim not to know Christ and have the opportunity to explore his Church (The Catholic Church). Also any such person is not certain of being saved. They may (not will) be saved.

Irrepentant heretics do go to Hell. However, as St. Augustine says below about non-Catholics:
St. Augustine:
But though the doctrine which men hold be false and perverse, if they do not maintain it with passionate obstinacy, especially when they have not devised it by the rashness of their own presumption, but have accepted it from parents who had been misguided and had fallen into error, and if they are with anxiety seeking the truth, and are prepared to be set right when they have found it, such men are not to be counted heretics.
newadvent.org/fathers/1102043.htm

So, a person who errs in good faith will not go to Hell for heresy (of course, just like Catholics they will go to Hell if they have any other mortal sins on their soul).

Everybody in heaven is catholic, but not all catholics go to heaven.

See, to me, that sounds like “If I live a good life, I’ll go to heaven”.
Depends how you define “good.” Good works, but no faith, is not enough. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

From the CCC:
The necessity of faith 161 Believing in Jesus Christ and in the One who sent him for our salvation is necessary for obtaining that salvation.42 "Since “without faith it is impossible to please [God]” and to attain to the fellowship of his sons, therefore without faith no one has ever attained justification, nor will anyone obtain eternal life ‘But he who endures to the end.’"43

42 Cf. 16:16; Jn 3:36; 6:40 et al.
43 Dei Filius 3 DS 3012; cf. Mt 10:22; 24:13 and Heb 11:6; Council of Trent DS 1532.
What we do acknowledge is “God in ways known to Himself can lead those inculpably ignorant of the Gospel to find that faith without which it is impossible to please Him.” (Vatican II, Ad Gentes 7.)

Thanks to all of you who answered my question.

I want to give my last note on this topic. In my view, I can’t accept the idea that non-Catholics are going to hell just because they don’t belong to the catholic church, it does not make sense, Orthodoxes are worshiping the same God, the same Jesus Christ, reading the same Bible. The same goes for Evangelical, actually, the last one is the most active Christian group evangelicing, every where, wether is was legal or wasn’t. They worship also the same God, the same Jesus Christ, almost the same bible (the new testament is the same), singing to the same God. To tell me, that all these people are going to hell just because they don’t belong to the Catholic church. I don’t agree with it and I’m not gonna accept it because I don’t believe that the lord Jesus Christ is that close minded person, that he just want all people to follow the Catholic church and out of that are not going to be saved

What I said might made some of you upset, but I’m saying my opinion here.

God bless

The Church may not ever openly admit that a person may reach salvation through alternative means outside of catholicism (excluding invincible ignorance), despite efforts for ecumenicity during Vatican II. The Church is losing members in droves in the Western world and they are probably of the mindset that if they tell people you may not have to be catholic to be saved, that in fact more people would leave to explore other venues of spirituality.
