Are non-Christians technically our "Brothers and Sisters"?

Christians are brothers and sisters because we are Jesus’ brothers and sisters (they who hear and do my words are …). One of my favorites is Rom 8:16-17, that we are children of God and heirs because of what we are through Jesus.

Other than that, brothers and sisters can mean anything, from blood siblings to friends and just to anybody. The Jews in Jesus’ time did not have words for cousins, thus all relatives are brothers or sisters.

Apologies - I gu;)ess I was irked by your being irked. We’re all made in the image and likeness of God, and the Church insists we believe in Adam and Eve as individuals and parents of the race. And Christ died for ALL. By what metric would we NOT be brothers and sisters?
Apology accepted. I will refrain from judging you for judging me 😉

The terminology I usually use is “brothers and sisters” for all human beings and “brothers and sisters in Christ” for Christians.

Yes, non-Christians are our brothers and sisters, but they are not our brothers and sisters in the same way that other Christians are.

God has no grandchildren, so yup, if they were created by God, they are brothers and sisters.

=Country Gal;11227751]I just read someone on another thread refer to Muslims as his brothers and sisters.
Is that correct? I thought Christians were our brothers and sisters (in Christ) I think of those names in the Biblical sense, referring to our religious brothers and sisters in the faith.
It sort of irks me a bit to hear it expanded to Muslims, who as a rule are opposed to our faith, at least somewhat. They are fellow humans, to be sure, but I don’t think of them as brothers and sisters.
My dear FRIEND in Christ,🙂

have you head the story of the Good Sameritan? It’s a WWJD answer to your question.

Luke 10: 25-42

Will make it easy for you to look up.

We Catholics believe [as should everyone] that we should “LOVE THE SINNER BUT HATE THE SIN”; and that dear friend is what God desires of us.👍

No-one will be converted by getting “in their face” with an I’M RIGHT AND YOUR WRONG"
statement. Invite them in as a friend; Shre Christ LOVE and then pray God grants you the opportunity to share our:
One God
can have ONLY One Faith [and does]🙂
And founded only one Church; just as He choose only One people in the OT.

GOD BLESS YOU, and welcome to the Forum!
patrick
