It would be informative to know what percentage of female religious orders do anything in the pro-life area.

I love social justice stuff, but abortion fits into the spectrum of it all as well. It’s a part of the dignity of the person.

The general Catholic idea is that a Catholic is required to be pro-life, without any exceptions.

That being said, they most definitely would be.

I’ve met a lot of religious sisters and I’ve never met one who was pro-choice.

And the reason WHY this “sister” and the others in her group are not Ex-communicated officially?

We all must pray for her soul and those women she is “escorting” into the murderous pits of hell.

I am scratching my head over that last remark of yours. How does abortion fit into “part of the dignity of the person”? Can you explain what that comment means?

I took the OP to be asking what orders were particularly active in specifically pro-life activities (such as prayer vigils in front of abortion clinics), not whether they believed the Church’s teachings.

It’s because the only ordained clergy can be officially excommunicated. For anyone else, automatic excommunication is possible. By the way, anyone who is officially excommunicated was already in fact excommunicated automatically prior to the official pronouncement of it by the Church.

Obviously abortion is a blow to innate human dignity. It’s backwards and primitive and, I hope, on the way out; barbaric.

I just keep running into published comments by female religious that make it seem as though some of them, perhaps many, feel it’s being “kind to women” to allow abortion.

I also don’t see them visibly taking up the cudgels against abortion. Or at least getting media attention on this.
