Are people still virgins after being raped?

Virginity isn’t regainable after it has been destroyed through experience of the pleasures consensually. In rape this would not occur since it is without consent. The spiritual aspect is more important than the physical proofs.

One isn’t looking at the spiritual/theological nature of sex here. It’s just straight up definitions of the word. If that puts you off sex…uh OK?

definitions of sex and rape is pretty straightforward. Rape is forced sex. If we want to be religious about it, rape is a huge distortion and misuse of the gift of sex from God.

The fault of it doesn’t lie in the victim, one would have to be Satan’s minion to think that, lol.

But that’s the theological view. The Church still says pre marital sex/hooking up is still sex even though there’s no ‘mutual giving of self’, it’s not open to life and it is not within marriage (three basic requirements for sex in the Church), because they’re basically talking about the actual physical definition of sex here. Because there’s no additional human dimension here, it’s a sin because it’s a misuse of sex, rather than it not being sex at all.

Sometimes it’s best to be simple about language instead of using definitions that only a small group of Catholics can understand. Same reason why I don’t agree with people here immediately assuming gay=ssa person having sex because that has hardly been the definition anywhere outside the small catholic circle!

Are rape survivors/victims still virgins? Should virgins still be honoured as virgins after being raped?
Modern Catholic Dictionary has:
… strictly speaking, a person is physically a virgin unless he or she has had sexual intercourse with a person of the opposite sex. Moral virginity means the absence of any willful consent to venereal pleasure; again, strictly speaking, with a person of the opposite sex. …

I agree there, Jesus’s body is still holy though it has the wounds of his passion (wound that bought redemption). More importantly, being raped is a grave suffering, so saying that bodily sanctity or virginity is destroyed by being raped is to say bodily sanctity or virginity is destroyed by suffering.
