Are pro-choice vegans mildly guilty of dehumanization? Vegans have such a high degree of respect for animals that they don’t want to inconvenience a cow to be placed in a pen to be connected to a milk machine, yet she will abort part of her own flesh and blood growing inside her. Where are the priorities? When push comes to shove, I doubt that many of these sensitive pro-choice vegans could really have an abortion. It seems logical that there should be more pro-life vegans than pro-choice vegans. Thoughts?

As a pro-life vegan I find it ridiculous to believe that we should avoid eating things that even involve an animal (honey, butter, cheese) and yet to think it acceptable to take a human life in the womb. I often debate with vegans online about that very topic. How that they will routinely indicate that even a non-fertilized egg should be avoided because it comes from an animal and animals shouldn’t be killed/used. To me, being vegan and pro-life should be common sense.

Apparently vegans don’t know that God made the animals for our use. Animals do not have immortal souls. Only human beings have the faculty of speech or rational thought. To place animals on the same level as humans is blasphemy.

In defense of vegans, not all of us place animals on the same level as humans. Also, having permission to use them and being required are two different things. While I agree God does not have a problem with the use of animals in the proper context, factory farming is a very bad thing and an abuse of God’s creation. God’s creation is his, not ours. We are stewards, and just like the parable in the bible, we will have to give an account with what we did with what God gave us.

Cruelty to animals is prohibited by the Church. Do vegans kill their bedbugs, fleas, lice, rats, and mice?

Ya, I once had a vegan friend of mine try to tell me how nonsensical I was because I was pro-lire, but was fine with eating meat. She asked what happened to the animals souls that I killed for meat. I then said I didn’t believe they had souls. Then I pointed out how she wasn’t okay with even using eggs from a chicken, but somehow she thought it was fine to kill her own offspring in her womb. I then pointed out that even if you think your fetus less than human, wouldn’t it at least be on the same level as some of the animals she vehemently protects. Well, needless to say she never brought either issue up again.

There are many who wouldn’t. Many would attempt to find natural ways to deter them or make them go away. I’ve personally caught and released mice etc. And I agree cruelty to animals is prohibited by the church, but it’s common place in our society to ignore that teaching. Several popes, including the current one, have spoken out against the current state of factory farming; which I think is a good thing.

I think you first need to do more research into veganism before posting questions like this.

Very true.

I know many, many devout Christians (and/or pro-life) who are vegetarian or vegan. Some of us do feel we are stewards of the earth, including animals. Many modern methods of farming are very cruel to animals.

I do understand the OP’s position. I also spent years listening to friends question how Christians could be pro-life and pro-death penalty.

Do Vegans wear shoes, belts, felt hats, leather coats, and gloves.

Not to be abused. A Actually I do not think animals would want to be humans. Further as we are those made in the image of God, we are obliged to treat God’s other creatures well.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veganism

“Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products. Ethical vegans reject the commodity status of animals and the use of animal products for any purpose, while dietary vegans or strict vegetarians eliminate them from their diet only.[1] Another form, environmental veganism, rejects the use of animal products on the premise that the industrial practice is environmentally damaging and unsustainable.[2]”

They also don’t know that plants have life and feelings just like animals. Vegans are worse than carnivores because they prey on helpless plants that can neither defend themselves nor run away from their predators.

I assume you are just making a joke here.

Pitcharan is making a brilliant commentary. Do people realize that dumping boiling water down the drain causes death to millions of bacteria and fungi? Where does it begin and end?
