Are public libraries safe?

But, maybe they do and you are simply not there to witness it.
 
My point is that many, many people out there in the world are not toe every line Catholics. It is not always “unsafe” to read their books, or even to see them in the library 🙂
 
My husband is a library director; sometimes he orders the latest book by the Pope, sometimes it’s the latest Kardashian autobiography. It’s about providing the community with what they want; not providing only what he would be interested in.
 
You realize that the Ingles family were Protestants. 🙂
The Laura Ingalls Wilder books were in every Catholic school library when I was growing up. No one minded that they were Protestants and there was nothing anti-Catholic or contrary to Catholic teaching in the books. I read every one of them, multiple times, and was over time gifted the entire set by my parents who would give me another volume every holiday.

I would go mad with power. The library users would wonder why 2/3 of the library is youth fiction and I’d have to step down in disgrace. I’m glad there are less impulsive people out there to do the job according to the community’s needs.😆
