I was just wondering if all the intellegent individuals posting replies are just spectators/participants as myself, or are some employed by CA?

Well, I’m not a CA employee, but let’s just say I work for a…hmm…“unregistered” Vatican agency. I can’t tell you anything about it, not directly, anyway. But let’s just say the Protestant Database Project is coming along nicely. 😉

montanaman, you cracked me up 😃 Thanks for the large smile. 👍

If they have an application page…might be a good career change. 😃

Peace and God Bless

Could you send me the “Top secret” hidden files on Jack Chick? 👍

I promise, under penalty of torture and death, thumbscrews, rack and all that, that I will keep it under my hat.

Peace and God Bless

just the Mod Squad, our moderators, God bless 'em. they keep us in line. the answers on Ask an Apologist are given by the staff apologists, listed on the CA homepage. sometimes one of them, or even the grand pooh-bah himself, Sir Karl Keating, weighs in on a topic on the other forums.

What Top Secret files? :o

For you, sure. I’ll just need you to submit a request for the files, though. We work on Church time here, so you can expect a response in two…maybe three centuries.

No, but my subscription to THIS ROCK pays for the ? at the end of your sentence. 🙂 (I notice we all recognized the “intelligent” part. 😃 )

Oh, I can’t believe no one has said…:rotfl:

No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Sorry, had to do it.

Just speaking for myself, I’m just an average Catholic who loves (and hopefully lives) the Faith once and for all delivered unto the saints, and wants everyone to know about it.

What? Sir Karl Keating is a Trog too? Shouldn’t surprise me as he is a great defender of the faith!

Many of the responders of the threads here are converts to the faith or reverts who just want to share the faith with others. I was born raised and fell away Catholic. I came back to the Church at the beginning of last year.

My stupidity and ignorance is entirely my fault and any usefulness of my posts I will attribute to God, as I try to not be too much of an obstacle to others seeking information about the Catholic faith.

God Bless

(As far as being paid, I think only the moderators and the respondents in the Ask an Apologist forum are possibly paid.)

Employed? You can get PAID to do this?? COOL 👍 Have to keep that in mind if I ever come up with an intelligent answer 😃

Being a future convert myself (Easter is a comin’ 👍 ) I can honestly say that the work and endless patience some people put in on these forums, explaining and leading to the Truth - is worth more than any earthly paycheck. This forum is one of the reasons I am converting, I only hope I can help lead someone else into the fullness of Truth. Thank-You to all who must put huge amounts of time in here 🙂

Peace

Okay, that’s very interesting to me. Many of the Protestants on this board think that many of the Catholics are too “harsh,” or “judgmental,” or “arrogant.” As an avatar for all three adjectives, I’d have to agree–my style certainly isn’t winning hearts and minds.

I can only guess at the backgrounds and motivations of some of these anti-Catholic antagonists, but one thing is for sure–they didn’t come here with ideas about “finding truth,” that phrase we internet crusaders like to bandy about. So, the aggressive style of some of these Catholic apologists doesn’t do much to dispell their misconceptions about Catholicism.

So how, pray tell, has this board helped YOU? I’m just curious.

Well, let’s see…
  1. I came here (among other places) to find out what the Church actually taught - not having really a clue beforehand. (I knew absolutely nothing about Catholicism apart from the Pope was infallible, and was/is possibly the anti-christ. :rotfl: Predictably I had an open mind about the Anti-christ part…but not infallibility (No WAY could a mere man be never wrong - that’d be heaven on earth! Women would NEVER stand for it!! ) JOKE…just a joke 😃
  2. While lurking around I had the strange feeling that there mighht be something to this after all - since a LOT of what I was reading I had held private suspicions about for quite some time. (Glory to God)
  3. I stumbled accross a thread on ‘conversion’ and was hooked…that answered my oldest question about “Deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow me…”
  4. I went out and bought a CCC…Naturally I tried to just sit down and read it 😃 , next I looked for an index.
  5. I came back and re-read threads, joined in some dicussions, and generally soaked up as much information as I possibly could…all summer long I sat here in front of my 'puter, reading…learning…and loving it.
  6. Finally I went to a mass…and was Lost, absolutely NO CLUE what was happening. Luckily it was a weekday mass…but convinced - this HAD to be it
  7. Found a GOOD Parish (Long Story…first Priest was re-called…all I will say on the matter) and joined RCIA.
  8. Our Blessed Mother and I went a few rounds (She won, I am NOT ashamed to say)
and here I am. True - there are abrasive personalities here, and everywhere…Catholic/Protestant/Other - doesn’t matter - people are people. Christ died, and rose, for ALL. I took the good with the bad…sometimes got an attitude about things…but had to bow to the truth when I saw (read) it. Which is usually when I went and googled things and learned more about what I was arguing against.

Finding Truth is something that just occurs - as I remember it, it just happens when you least expect it, probably because that is the only way it really HITS you…right between the eyes, where it does the most good.

Maybe I am one of the rare ones who actually kept an open mind (Somewhat) about Truth, and faith. If so - all that Glory as well goes to God, as I certainly was not going out of my way to look for Him…at least not nearly as much as He was in keeping me alive and wandering towards Him…in spite of myself sometimes…well OK … usually.

long Story short - I am still looking around here - but now it is to hopefully give something back, and too - I still occasionally get into discussions over my head…and have to stop and google and learn. But - the more I learn, the more complete I feel…like a puzzle coming together - now I want to see the picture.

CAF has it’s place…it is not the end all of learning - sometimes I got bad info - or just someones perspective. But if you’re really searching, as I was when I came here (I just KNEW His Church HAD to be here for us somewhere)…those things won’t matter. Because Truth just IS. It stands out and DEMANDS you pay attention…from there it is a matter of an open heart…and a ready one. Willing to receive.

Peace

John
