Currently disabled and unemployed, but if CA wants to offer me a job with decent pay that I can telecommute from Overland Park, KS I would seriously consider it.

No, of course I’m not a CA employee.

What? You weren’t asking me? Oh, you were only asking the intelligent posters? Oh… anyway, did you try the veal? I hear its great!

Notworthy

Well, I’m not a CA employee, but let’s just say I work for a…hmm…“unregistered” Vatican agency. I can’t tell you anything about it, not directly, anyway. But let’s just say the Protestant Database Project is coming along nicely. 😉
Peace.

Part of the Secret Vatican Files where the REAL Gospels are kept?

Peace.

Well, let’s see…
  1. I came here (among other places) to find out what the Church actually taught - not having really a clue beforehand. (I knew absolutely nothing about Catholicism apart from the Pope was infallible, and was/is possibly the anti-christ. :rotfl: Predictably I had an open mind about the Anti-christ part…but not infallibility (No WAY could a mere man be never wrong - that’d be heaven on earth! Women would NEVER stand for it!! ) JOKE…just a joke 😃
  2. While lurking around I had the strange feeling that there mighht be something to this after all - since a LOT of what I was reading I had held private suspicions about for quite some time. (Glory to God)
  3. I stumbled accross a thread on ‘conversion’ and was hooked…that answered my oldest question about “Deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow me…”
  4. I went out and bought a CCC…Naturally I tried to just sit down and read it 😃 , next I looked for an index.
  5. I came back and re-read threads, joined in some dicussions, and generally soaked up as much information as I possibly could…all summer long I sat here in front of my 'puter, reading…learning…and loving it.
  6. Finally I went to a mass…and was Lost, absolutely NO CLUE what was happening. Luckily it was a weekday mass…but convinced - this HAD to be it
  7. Found a GOOD Parish (Long Story…first Priest was re-called…all I will say on the matter) and joined RCIA.
  8. Our Blessed Mother and I went a few rounds (She won, I am NOT ashamed to say)
and here I am. True - there are abrasive personalities here, and everywhere…Catholic/Protestant/Other - doesn’t matter - people are people. Christ died, and rose, for ALL. I took the good with the bad…sometimes got an attitude about things…but had to bow to the truth when I saw (read) it. Which is usually when I went and googled things and learned more about what I was arguing against.

Finding Truth is something that just occurs - as I remember it, it just happens when you least expect it, probably because that is the only way it really HITS you…right between the eyes, where it does the most good.

Maybe I am one of the rare ones who actually kept an open mind (Somewhat) about Truth, and faith. If so - all that Glory as well goes to God, as I certainly was not going out of my way to look for Him…at least not nearly as much as He was in keeping me alive and wandering towards Him…in spite of myself sometimes…well OK … usually.

long Story short - I am still looking around here - but now it is to hopefully give something back, and too - I still occasionally get into discussions over my head…and have to stop and google and learn. But - the more I learn, the more complete I feel…like a puzzle coming together - now I want to see the picture.

CAF has it’s place…it is not the end all of learning - sometimes I got bad info - or just someones perspective. But if you’re really searching, as I was when I came here (I just KNEW His Church HAD to be here for us somewhere)…those things won’t matter. Because Truth just IS. It stands out and DEMANDS you pay attention…from there it is a matter of an open heart…and a ready one. Willing to receive.

Peace

John
Fascinating, John. That was almost the perfect conversion story, too. Clearly heartfelt, but right to the point. On behalf of all the forum users who have caught ADD, thank you.

Still, judging by your story, I see we have something in common. Even though I’m a cradle Catholic, it took nearly 30 years for me to get “it.” But, like you, it seems that I didn’t have a choice. It is RARE for people to exhibit the kind of humility and curiosity you apparently did, leading me to believe that you were shoved in by the Holy Spirit. I, on the other hand, tried as hard as I could but kept getting drop-kicked back through the gates of Rome.

Anyway, thanks for sharing. 👍

Technically, I can’t say, but if you go down into the Vatican basement and look behind the box of Beta tapes, you might find a little surprise. 😉

There are a lot of good posters at CA Forums, but if they were all on the Catholic Answers payroll, there would have to be another fund drive. (Not to say there won’t be anyway.)
