Are some Saints stronger than others?

Some people seem to pray for the intercession of certain Saints over others, I do too but wonder whether it really matters? Is it more that we feel connected to certain Saints over others that we may not know much about? Is it the prayer itself that some prayers contain more than others or just our Faith when we pray?

I’m not including Mary in this as we know her intercession is much more powerful.

I think it’s more like you talk about your problems to some friends instead of others. Some saints have a higher place in heaven, but I don’t know if that means God listens better to them than to others. Seems a bit silly, though, for God to do that. Good question.
 
Obviously we are interested in Saints that have powerful stories, or had similar problems as we do.
Read up on others…
Many Novenas are highly recommended because of their efficaciousness.
In the end, it is GOD that is all powerful.
 
There is also probably a cultural aspect. As a former Anglican who converted to the faith, I pray to John Henry Newman regularly. It would be natural that say a Polish person might be more attracted to pray to Saint Faustina. In a particular area, a local saint may be more popular, but I may have never heard of them or why they are considered “powerful”. Ultimately, only God is powerful of course, and saints can only plead our case before Him.
 
St. Christopher (my namesake and avitar) was allegedly a big, strong guy, able to carry many people across a fast-flowing river (except Our Lord, who carries the weight of the world), but I’m thinking you probably weren’t asking about physical strength :).
 
Some saints are more well-known and prayed to often. Their existence is well-documented. Some saints no one knows for sure.
 
Some saints attain more merit than others (S.T. Supp. Q. 93, art. 3). Since “their prayers are efficacious in impetrating through their previous merits” (IIb, Q. 83, art. 11), it follows that some saints, generally speaking, have more sway with God as it were.

“Nevertheless it happens sometimes that prayers addressed to a saint of lower degree are more efficacious, either because he is implored with greater devotion, or because God wishes to make known his sanctity” (Ibid).
