They must differ. I have been in debate with SSPX for quite some time and they do not accept any popes from Vatican II…
This is anecdotal and inaccurate in regards to the SSPX. Anyone capable of reading this post can go to the SSPX site themselves and see that this is not true. Now there may be one SSPX that you talk to that does not accept the past few pontiffs, but that is him, not the SSPX. The SSPV split from the SSPX precisely because it accepted the validity of the current popes.

Because heresy has a specific definition. One could accept the doctrine of the papacy, yet not believe that HH Benedict XVI is not the true pope, or decide not to follow his authority in any number of ways. A child can disobey his parents and even run away from home, yet not deny that they are his parents.
But to be in schism means you have denied any need for the Church, or believe you are above the Church.

Not necessarily. Anyway, forget my opinion. Here is the difference as defined by the Catechism.

*"Heresy is the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or it is likewise an obstinate doubt concerning the same; *

schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him." [Code of Canon Law c.751]

They are not the same.

Your definition of what constitutes Protestantism is excessively broad. The Eastern Orthodox, the Oriental Orthodox, and the Assyrian Church of the East all are not in union with Rome and are not Catholic; however, they are not Protestant.
They are product of the great schism in 1050 correct? When I say protestant I mean and am really speaking of the denominations founded after 1500s. I know that those Orthadox churches for the most part agree with us ,we just have some doctrine issues .

SSPX that I encounter on youtube do not accept our Pope even going as far to say he is an anti pope most certainly Blessed John Paul II they speak this of . I have read many SSPX books including "Letter to confused Catholics " and other books by Arch Bishop Levebra and they do not recognize the post Vatican II popes . However in those books they speak of Cardinal Ratzinger agreeing with them on issues . I know of the Society of Saint Pius x SSPV?
