Are Sundays considered part of Lent?

I have heard that when one gives up something for Lent or makes some other type of sacrifice for Lent, it is permissible to set that promise aside on Sundays during Lent because they are not technically part of Lent. Is that true or false? Thank you
 
Hi,

They are called the Sundays of Lent (First Sunday of Lent, etc.) for a reason. They are definitely Lent. Since we are free to chose our penitential practices during Lent, we can choose to include them on Sundays or not. But taking them back on Sundays does reduce the impact of the sacrifice.
