The earth is billions of years old. We humans can only live for only an insignificant fraction of that (less than 0.0000001% I’d wager). That should tell you enough about the gap between worrying about the fates between the two.

Yes. For each of us the “end times” are near. Because each of us will die eventually and that is our specific “end time”. It’s the only one we can be sure will occur sometime this century. Best to prepare for the certainty of your own death that is guaranteed to happen relatively soon. As for the return of Christ at the end of time…it could be today, tomorrow, next week, or 10,000 years from now. Scripture doesn’t give us a date.

How near is “near”? True St Malachy prophesied that after this pope, there will be the last pope. But it is also true that we must expect the arrival of the Anti-Christ whose reign will last only three years three months. After that I feel we will see signs in the Heavens and Christ will return to earth. For a thousand years? That is what the Revelations seem to imply. But as with all prophesy we can never be sure. Let us trust in God and live as God wants us to live.

Two good resources every Catholic should go to:
- “The Days of Vengeance” by David Chilton Every Christian, Catholic of not should read this! Available as a free pdf download. Just google it. This is one of the best chapter by chapter, verse by verse, treatments of the Apocalypse. Though written by a non-Catholic, it is cited many times by Scott Hahn as a reference and I am sure that, had he lived past the age of 42, he would have become Catholic.
- “The End” A 12 disk series of talks on the book of Revelation, by Scott Hahn.

Answer to bolded part: No, no and no. A man will have to act *in persona diaboli *(Latin?) and seduce the whole world with a messianism that is appealling but that denies the deity of Christ (among other things). There will be pestilence, disarray, chaos, men’s hearts will fail them for fear of what’s to come etc. before Christ’s return, so before the Antichrist comes and reigns for a while, Jesus won’t come back.
Again, no one said anything about worrying. The OP’s question is very simple, if anyone doesn’t want to answer and discuss it, they’re free to move on to another thread.

Again, I never said anything about worrying. In all truthfulness, Heaven knows I worry about a lot of things (my health, being poor again, having to go back to a low-paying job I hate if I ever lost this one, how my kid will do socially, if he’ll grow up to be a happy, balanced human being who loves and honours God, if God will find me wanting when I die and go to my personal judgment, sometimes I make vivid dreams that someone just broke into my house, has kidnapped my kid, knows I know they’re there etc., dying hopeless, angry and bitter and so on and so forth). The endtimes do not worry me one tiny bit for the time being, perhaps it will when I have to pick bowing to the AC or having my head separated from the rest of my body (aka as beheading).
Not sure where you’re going with your fraction, I think the endtimes is a topic worth discussing, not fretting over or obsessing over. Again, we can’t know the exact day, week or year but we can have a discussion on whether we are in the season or near the season.

It’s been around for almost 3 years, is in its 14th iteration (15, actually, but we don’t talk about that one), and is a good source for different Catholic sources on the End Times.
Second, in Catholic terms, what we are approaching is not the End of Time. Rather, it’s the End of the Age. A number of the Early Church Fathers wrote about this as a time of renewal, when the Earth would be newly fertile (three crops each year, instead of one or two), and a person of 100 years would be thought young. There are also some writers who think that during this time, “the veil will be thinned”, allowing us to fully sense the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
