Are the End Times near?

Good afternoon, itullian,

I think the end draws near first, because of the reemergence of the state of Israel. Second, the twentieth, and now the the twenty first, centuries movement for a one world government. There have been One Worlders around for a long time, but in our day the technology and the United Nations make a world government really possible. Not to mention, the movement to get a global currency. So, as things shape up for Satan’s short rule of the planet just before the return of Jesus Christ in glory, I think that things point more to that than ever before.

God loves you,
Don

I think you’ve summed up the case nicely, Don. To add to that, mention should be made of the spiritual readiness of the people to receive such a man as spiritual discernment is not our generation’s (broadly speaking) strongest point and people are generally spiritually starved.

Ok, Daniel 7 8 – I was considering the ten hornes it had, when suddenly another, a little horn, sprang out of there mist, and three of the previous horns were torn away

to make room for it. **This horn had eyes like a man(singular, as in one), and a mouth that spoke arrogantly.
**

Yes, I have heard that explaination before…here is something you might consider:

Bible expositors generally connect Daniel’s dream-vision of four beasts with Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of an immense image. For example, The Expositor’s Bible Commentary states: “Chapter 7 [of Daniel] parallels chapter 2.” The Wycliffe Bible Commentary says: “It is generally agreed that the succession of four Gentile dominions . . . is the same here [in Daniel chapter 7] as that contemplated in [Daniel] chapter 2.” The four world powers represented by the four metals of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream were the Babylonian Empire (gold head), Medo-Persia (silver breasts and arms), Greece (copper belly and thighs), and the Roman Empire (iron legs). (Daniel 2:32, 33)

Now, lets lets reflect on the following developments. In 55 B.C.E., Roman General Julius Caesar invaded Britannia but failed to establish a permanent settlement. In 43 C.E., Emperor Claudius began a more permanent conquest of southern Britain. Then, in 122 C.E., Emperor Hadrian began to build a wall from the Tyne River to the Solway Firth, marking the northern limit of the Roman Empire. Early in the fifth century, the Roman legions left the island. “In the sixteenth century,” explained one historian, “England had been a second-rate power. Its wealth was slight compared with that of the Netherlands. Its population was much less than that of France. Its armed forces (including its navy) were inferior to Spain’s.” Britain was an insignificant kingdom then, making up the symbolic small horn of the fourth beast. But that was to change.

In 1588, Philip II of Spain launched the Spanish Armada against Britain. This fleet of 130 ships, carrying more than 24,000 men, sailed up the English Channel, only to suffer a defeat by the British navy and to fall victim to winds and fierce Atlantic storms. This event “marked the decisive passing of naval superiority from Spain to England,” said one historian. In the 17th century, the** Dutch** developed the world’s largest merchant marine. With growing overseas colonies, however, Britain prevailed over that kingdom. During the 18th century, the British and the French fought each other in North America and India, leading to the Treaty of Paris in 1763. This treaty, said author William B. Willcox, “recognized Britain’s new position as the predominant European power in the world beyond Europe.” Britain’s supremacy was confirmed by the crushing victory over Napoléon of France in 1815 C.E. The “three kings” that Britain thus ‘humiliated’ were Spain, the Netherlands, and France. (Daniel 7:24) As a result, Britain emerged as the world’s greatest colonial and commercial power. The “small” horn grew to become a world power

I am interested in your view of Daniel 7:6

Ok, lets also say this. Matthew 24 15 - When you see the desolating abomination(singular, as in one) spoken of through Daniel the prophet standing in the holy place (let the reader understand).
The accounts by Mark and Luke provide supplemental details. Where Matthew uses “standing in a holy place,” Mark 13:14 says “standing where it ought not.” Luke 21:20 “When you see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies, then know that the desolating of her has drawn near.” This helps us to see that the first fulfillment involved the Roman attack on Jerusalem and its temple—a place holy to the Jews but no longer the place holy to God—which began in 66 C.E. Complete desolation occurred when the Romans destroyed both city and temple in 70 C.E.

Here too is an interesting observation regarding the"Beast" at Rev 13 :1

The “wild beast” is described in Scripture as being “like a leopard,” having feet “as those of a bear” and a mouth “as a lion’s mouth.” (Rev. 13:2) By comparing this description with what is stated at Daniel 7:3-7, 17-23, it would seem that the “wild beast” is a combination of beasts, such as those mentioned in the book of Daniel. Those beasts are specifically identified as kings or kingdoms.

Therefore, I believe and have been taught that the “wild beast” out of the “sea” (Isaiah 57:20; Revelation 17:15) must represent the global political system made up of the “kings” or ruling powers on earth. Please compare Luke 4:5,6

Peace

Yes. Also perhaps when the Antichrist makes his entrance , considering the times we’re living through now he may appear as the economic saviour of the world

sigh…much of the imagery in Revelation and Daniel has already been explained ad nauseum by biblical scholars familiar with the “apocalyptic” style of writing. R.H. Charles, though a bit dated, has an exhaustive treatment of how “Nero Caesar” is the 666/Beast. The bulk of the imagery deals with events happening at the time the work was written.

the beauty of understanding apocalyptic for Catholics is that we are uniquely living out the Book of Revelation; in fact we step into it literally every time we celebrate the Eucharist. The book of revelation is not so much about the future as it is about how the power of God in Christ is supreme in our worship no matter what evil operates in the here and now, or how chaotic the world is. It is about our direct connection with The Pantocrator - The All-Powerful-God through Christ and our worship of Him.

The book of Revelation is filled with the imagery and language of worship that contrast with the evils and persection of the world. We see similar language in the Didache, the non-canonical teaching of the Apostles.

if you must read commentaries about revelation, use only those by authors who are members of recognized Biblical Societies or have been published in professional Biblical Journals. End-time books are a dime a dozen. be careful what you choose.

Well, I’m going to use a quote from my mother regarding the “end of the world” and she said it best…

El Mundo Se Acaba Cuando Uno Se Muere

Translation: The end of the world comes when one dies

Love ya mom…😃

@ DJ Dave. The Leapord represents Cyrus the Great, and his kings after him. The He Goat Represents Alexander the Great. Cyrus went west to conquer, Alexander went east to conquer the Ram. The books or revelation represents the beast throughout the history of the world. Daniels vision represents a half of what is to come. Nebuchadnezzar Dream also showed all the kingdoms of the world.

Beasts of Revelation 13 and 17 in order
Nebuchadnezzar – the Lion
Median Empire – the bear
Cyrus the Great – lion
Alexander the Great – he goat
Antiochus Epiphanes – AC of the OT. “Five have already fallen” Rev 17:10
Roman Empire – “one still lives” Rev17:10
Ottoman Empire – "and the last has not yet come, Rev 17:10 Note below
Antichrist – end times bad guy. Eighth head. Notes below.

Rev 17: 10 – “and when he does come, he must remain only a short while”
Rev 17: 11 – “The beast that existed once, but exists no longer is and eighth king, but really belongs to the seven and is headed for destruction".

The seven head represents all the empires that controlled Israel. So will the Antichrist when he rules.

Byzitian Empire was part of the Roman Empire. It lost control to the Ottoman Empire.
The Catholic Church helped defend Jerusalam from the Ottomans and had to fight them so they wouldn’t control the rest of Europe.
Rev 17: 10 When the Ottoman Empire took over, he lasted till WW2. The British took over until 1948 when Israel was born. The difference between Britain and all the other beasts is that they all fell, Britain still stands. Israel is a Nation of it’s own with no governing powers.

Luke 4 5 6 represents the devils temptation to get people to worship the world. Matthew 6 24"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. Matthew 13 7 *Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. The thorns represen the pains of the anxieties of the world. Tim 6 10 “The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.”

That represents the characteristics of the AC. He will be swift as leopard, he will conquer fast like a lion moves. Feet of a bear; He will be very violent, toward his enemies, Mouth of a lion, will be loud and using fear.

The small horn that grew to become a world leader was Antiochus Epiphanes. He was broken without a hand being raised, because he was stricken with fear and anxiety and died in sorrow.

Btw, if you read Rev 13: 11 --The false prophet is the one that has the number of 666. Not the AC like everybody says. Remember when it said that 1 of the beasts heads was mortally wounded, that was the AC or the 8th king that is part of the 7. The false prophet is the one who heals him. The false prophet comes from the earth comes from religion;is the one that has the horns of a lamb, but speaks like a dragon. Meaning that he will be somebody that you will love on the outside, but he will be deceptive in his words.

Anything else?

666 is the number of the beast, the beast being the Antichrist (and probably also applies to other minor “antichrists”, who were persecuting God’s people/the Christians). Anything else? Are the end times near?

Not really, read Rev 13:1 and Rev 13: 11; 666 is the false prophet, the one that heals the mortal wound of the beast. Rev 13: 3 “I saw that one of its heads seemed to have been mortally wounded(AC get shot in the head 1/2 through his reign) but this mortal wound was healed.” Again Rev 13: 12 "It wielded all the authority of the first beast in its sight and make the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound had been healed. It performed great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in sight of everyone. Rev 13: 18 “Wisdom is need here; on who understands can calculate the number of the beast, for it is a number that stands for a person(meaning singular, one). His number is six hundred and sixty-six”. Everybody will know the AC by seeing him on TV, or whatever people view the news on at that time. You don’t need to worry about finding out who he is. He(AC) will be the only person ruling the world at the time. The false prophet is the one that is the mystery. He seems more of the back room person… pulling the strings.

And no I do not know when those times are to happen.

Thank you for YOUR explanation…I respectively disagree with much of your interpretations especially with your explanation of Luke 4:5,6—Please ANYONE reading this…re-read Luke 4:5,6 --this is why Jehovah’s Witnesses are neutral in Politics and preach God’s Kingdom as the only hope for mankind. See Dan. 2:44.

Again, thank you for your explanation.

Ok teacher, teach me so that I can see it from your POV. I am willing to learn, so I can grow. So feed me.

I beleive the end is near… VERY NEAR. because we can see so much deception and falling away. I do beleive the Church is about to experience such a great tribulation never seen before. But Christ will be with us who truly love him. I truly beleive the antichrists religion is called the black Hebrew Israelites. The are growing faster than any religion and have horns like a lamb but speak like a dragon. Very hateful and full of war. But they claim Christ. We must draw near to Christ, repent, and stay active in the Faith. I promise the end is close. Do some investigating. They preach all over YouTube. But be very careful. They are antichrists so they are VERY DECEIVING. just get ready they are spreading everywhere. Love you Christ is truth. And so is his Catholic Church.

YouTube and type black Hebrew Israelites. We see such a rising hatred for catholics, Jews, Christians. satans spirit is on the rise and we must prepare. I beleive intense persecution will happen in our lifetime. and humbly I pray Christ return.
Matthew 24:3-51 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Behold, I have told you before.
Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

There is a reason you wouldn’t know the day or hour. Who knows the answer? What has to happen before he can come for us? Hint-Jewish culture.

Actually what has to happen is that the Jewish temple its to be fully rebuilt. We just have to wait on that time.

@ Robert Anthony, you were right. I didn’t see that scripture was a separate paragraph that was taking me back to the first beast. It hit me after I posted those messages. I am sorry I do repent on that. I do admit that I jumped the gun. didn’t let the scripture fully simmer. 😦 . I will be more careful in my studies. We all make mistake, even the best theologians that made the interpretations of and in the Bible had to make a mistake or 2 to learn from it. Misinterpretations are a given for everybody.

I do thank God for all that I did learn in my debate with you guys. If you can offer me more than I can give, or clear things up that I don’t understand, then please feed me. That is why I came here, to learn and grow along with putting in my (name removed by moderator)ut, I am not a prophet, nor do I want to be a prophet. Thank God 👍.

But I do stand behind my point that the AC, False Prophet are 1 person each.

And no, I don’t know the hour or day the end will come.

Doesn’t that mean now, then? Since it is least expected now. Most people are in apostasy - they consider themselves post-Church and think Christianity is a middle-ages leftover and feel a “fork should be stuck in it because it’s done”, so to speak. So now seems about right.

God bless you.

Btw, there is a whole series of threads on this - End Times Speculation - in the Back Fence (there up to 14th thread now):

This was the exact situation 2000 years ago when Jerusalem fell. Apocalyptic literature specifically addressed the very scenario you say exists today. Take it a step further: has the Vatican been bombed to oblivion so that nothing is left standing, and the Pope executed or kicked out of Rome? has Christian worship been made illegal and punishable by death throughout the world? Maybe in some contries, but not worldwide. Back then, the Roman Empire WAS the world, and the situation for Jews and Christians alike was bleak. Jeruslame was levelled and turned into a pagan Roman city. Yet, the parousia did not occur.

Again, the meaning of Revelation is that what we believe transcends any ongoing tribulation.

Dr Scott Hahn teaches that there was a 1st Century fulfillment of the Bk of Revelation.
Which doesn’t mean that the prophecy is not applicable today also.
The word parousia actually means presence . St Paul uses the same word to describe his own visit to one of the churches.
And since the birth of the Church we have had the Real Presence (Parousia ) of Jesus in the tabernacle.
