Baltimore Catechism No. 3Ex. The Miracle of Lanciano, which took place in 750. Does it still hold the true presence of the Lord?
Q. 914. What length of time should we spend in thanksgiving after Holy Communion?
A. We should spend sufficient time in Thanksgiving after Holy Communion to show due reverence to the Blessed Sacrament; for Our Lord is personally with us as long as the appearance of bread and wine remains.
By that standard, the Miracle of Lanciano never held the Real Presence, since when it changed into the Body and Blood of Christ, the appearance changed as well as the substance. Our Lord is personally with us as long as the appearance of bread and wine remains.
So then it should be a simple matter to produce a statement from the Catholic Church that there is the Real Presence in the reliquary at the Church of San Francesco, Lanciano.Vico:![]()

Miracles are singular events. If the appearance of the Body and Blood continues, then the Real Presence probably does as well, since the appearance signifies the Presence. At least, that is what I think the Church’s endorsement of the miracle means.
