Following the discussion in this thread, that 12,000 years ago at the end of the geologic age known as the Pliestocene, the ice age ended. In many places in the world the sea level was some 2 - 300 feet lower than it is today. For the next several thousand years, the sea rose. Land which was previously dry was submerged by the melting ice caps, makes me think that the expulsion of Adam and Eve, the flood, the Atlantis myth and similar myths in different cultures.
Could that be the case?
By the way, I always thought the Biblical narrative was closer to the Greek myth than the Sumerian myth itself… who wrote first? The Greek or the Hebrew?
