I think it all depends on how strong a character you are… Demon television shows have and never have had a effect on me…because I see it as nonsense entertainment,
Like gone with the wind, Ghost, to many to mention, it’s just Hollywood entertainment,

Hi Starrsmother,

I only saw parts of the Bible Miniseries. In a movie about the Bible it’s ok if Satan is being played by an actor, because (unfortunately) he’s part of the story. And he’s not being glorified. But putting him in that series and making him look like Obama was poor taste n movie making. Actually I was disappointed in the whole thing. I expected something better.

NAMES in general can be dangerous. NAMES can be used to mislead us, hurt us, and possess us. For example, a person might dislike a BRAND NAME because the product they had purchased broke prematurely. They then buy a diffrent BRAND NAME. What many people do not understand is they could still be buying the same product from the same manufacturer. Same item…Different NAME… My credit card was charged thousands of dollars once from someone using it for shopping online. I am not happy this unknown person got my NAME. I heard a story about man who was online in a chat room with a young boy. The man gave the boy his NAME and told the boy he would like to meet with him. The man then logged in “as” the NAMES of other “children” to present peers for the boy. These other “children” convinced the boy to meet with the man because “they” told him it was safe. Sadly, it was not. My point is, look at the harm we as people can do with NAMES. God help us from the danger a devil can do.

Now I’m teasing here so please nobody get on their high horse:

My husband and I watched The Bible together on TV–and loved it–even recorded it. When Satan was on, we both noticed who it was (ie Satan) and we both apparently noticed the resemblance at once-but before I could point it out, my wonderful, honest, red neck, old husband laughed out loud and said “Well would you just look at that! Old Obama finally found the job he was really meant for!” LOL!

That is funny. But don’t forget the old saying, that “many a true word is said in a joke”.

I only saw drips and drabs of the miniseries, and I saw it online. But speaking of movies about the Bible, I’ve seen some good ones lately, online. For example, I saw a movie about Jeremiah, staring Patrick Dempsey. I never even knew that movie was made. And last night I was watching a well made movie about Esther. I think it’s kinda old, and I know it’s not 100% accurate to the Bible, but it’s good.

I’m looking for a movie, or docudrama on Padre Pio. I saw part of it on EWTN. I don’t know the title. I really want to see the rest of it. The part I saw had to do with a Catholic reporter went to Italy (I think) to interview Padre Pio. The reporter had a long journey getting to where the Padre was. Then there was a scene where the Padre hears the reporter’s confession. The reporter either couldn’t remember his sins, or he deliberately held some back. To the reporter’s astonishment, Padre Pio knew the other sins, and he says to the reporter, “what about…”. And Padre Pio knew the sins. Has anyone else seen this movie?

If you find a really good movie on Padre Pio that is reasonably true to his life, I for one would love it if you’d post it here–or if it’s after this thread is gone, start a thread with the name of it as I’ve thought the same thing! But I want one that is basically true to his life—
