I avoid the news and have made a conscious decision to do so about 20 years ago. I came to the decision that the news basically reported on negative, often horrible events happening locally, nationwide, and worldwide. And I realized, that for me, it was implanting a bunch of negativity in my brain. So I decided to stop watching/reading.
IMO people get slanted views of the world because of what they see on the news. Bad events get reported much more often than good events, and it leaves people with the impression that more bad is happening in the world than good. I expect bad things to happen. After all, I think it’s safe to say that as a species, we are not civilized. We mame, rape, murder. We do so for money and we do so for emotional gratification or emotional release. We do so to strangers and we do so to our own relatives. So I expect that people will continue to get murdered, etc locally, nationally, and across the globe. And I don’t expect our species to evolve to being civilized in my lifetime.
As such, I am not ‘up to speed’ on what so and so party, or so and so group, thinks or believes about issues x, y, and z. The only thing I really know about ‘social justice’ is it is at least in part connected to so called progressives who believe in income or wealth re-distribution. I have heard of the 99% thing vs the 1% and did see a little bit of that on TV with the sit in’s or whatever.
But IMO the 1% (1 out of 100 people) are not really powerful or wealthy when I think about what I consider to be real wealth. Like the 500 wealthiest individuals/families in the world, for example. And I have heard arguments about people who make over 250K or something like that should be taxed more. When I think of this I think it is a game of smoke and mirrors.
The truely wealthy do not derive their wealth from monies subjected to federal or state income taxes. They own vast ammt’s of real estate, lands, and companies. Their wealth is in what they own, monies that they earn come from owning stuff. When I was young I remember reading something to the effect of something like the wealthiest 500 or 5000 individuals/families own something like 75% of the wealth on the entire planet. Basically a ridiculously small % of people relative to the size of the entire human race owning a ridiculously large ammt of wealth. The figures are ballpark but from memory it was something sick like that.
When I think about such a small group owning such a huge ammt I can not even fathom the power and influence they have over the governments and powers that be on this planet. I can not fathom the types of favors they can do for one another, the things they can have done by placing a phone call or snapping their fingers.
But it leaves me wondering if such a group would have the upper middle class positioned against the poor to keep everyones eyes off of them so they can go about their business without being scrutinized.
Do we have poor poeple who focus on people who work for a living and are well off or ‘rich’ in a lot of peoples eyes, but nothing close to even touch the ridiculously wealthy. Doctors and lawyers who earn a million or 5 a year but their income is taxed via federal income tax. And those in that group, the 300K and up a year club who are well off, focused on the poor who live for free on taxpayers money. I wonder if the really super wealthy who are worth 500 million and up or so and don’t get their monies in ways that are subject to federal income taxes wanting the poor to be focused on the 300K and up club who face fed income taxes and vice versa so the uber rich can go on about their business, running the world, taxes they pay are what? property taxes and taxes for liquidating stock, which is at a lower rate than fed income taxes.
I wonder if the uber rich want the poor and middle and upper middle classes to be at odds with one another as a strategey to keep everyones eyes away from what they are doing. The …00000001%. IMO they are the ones who really run things. They are the movers and shakers and decision makers. For years the media denied the existance of the bilderberg group, a group of uber rich elite who meet annually. Sometimes at those meetings will be an individual who 3-4 years later winds up running for and getting elected president. Turns out media moguls have been participating in their meetings, certain politicians of both parties, etc. The agenda is secret. From what I understand they have only recently been acknowledged in the mass media.
I would venture to bet that if the 30 highest paid athletes across all sports met in secret each year, their agenda a secret, it would draw a heck of a lot of attention as well as a lot of suspicion. But am I supposed to believe that a small group of the worlds wealthiest individuals along with a few of the most influential and powerful media moguls and certain politicians from different countries all meet each year in secret (or try to, the info gets out each year now due to moles who work as servents for the event, etc) and have the interests of people other than themselves in their hearts and minds? Is it a social club where they are playing chess for fun? Just shooting the breeze with some privacy being around other super rich people so they feel comfortable and there is no agenda? I find it hard to believe that such a group of poeple meet for reasons other than their own interests. And I can not even come close to fathoming the kind of power and influence they can weild when working together towards some goal(s). I’m also doubtful they think of me and my family or you and your family when they meet. Heck, I could be wrong, I often am.
But I suspect that certain super wealthy individuals/families form alliances to increase their own wealth and power. And I would also venture to guess that they don’t start off the meetings they have with prayers to God with an agenda of trying to be aware of the temptation towards sin and praying together that they may find the strength to avoid sinning.
Am I paranoid? (the group does factually exist, their agenda, or lack thereof is debated and opinions differ).
In short, I think most poeple in the nation are missing the point when things like economic fairness and socio economic matters are discussed/debated. The poor may have a lot of people who can get in a ballot box to cast votes…but no one can run for high government office successfully without the backing of rich people, can they (unless they are like Ross Perot or something).
Do people think there is any validity to my line of thinking when it comes to who weilds power in the world?
