Are there 2 kinds of Leftist philosophy?

Yes, Christ taught that 'throwing more money at them would make them worse.

It sounds like a rationalization to justify, in my opinion.

No matter how you ‘explain’ it, it amounts to let the rich get richer and they’ll trickle money down to those in need, yet we’ll still have unemployed, homeless, malnourished children, uninsured majority, policies against the poor immigrants. lower tax percentages on the richest, and set tax rates on the rest.

A different kind of help, but no suggestions of what that might mean…
40% of the nation pays no federal income taxes, so you are wrong. The megarich use loopholes to pay a lower percent than the regular rich, but their whole dollar amounts of taxes paid are still in the 6 to 7 figures worth of taxes, so it’s misleading. If you want to cap people’s incomes at, say $80K per year by taxing all income above that, you’ll see people work less hours, until they make $80K per year.

Every employer needs to profit from the employees. That’s Econ 101. This very basic fact is not taught much in schools, but it should be. If there’s no profit, then there’s a loss. Businesses are not in business to lose money. It’s unfair to look at only one side of the equation. Work is voluntary. I suggest you start your own small business if you think it’s so easy and profitable.

I’ve had a small business before. The majority of business people will only drive harder to achieve profits; at least I don’t know any that will work less to avoid taxes.

Then I suggest we go back to Christ’s teachings and apply them to our businesses. While employees help us make a profit, we shouldn’t profit at a cost to our employees, who are our fellow ‘man’.

Christ isn’t going to ask us how much we profited. He’s going to ask why we treated our fellow man as we did.

I see no evidence that the sharing of the early Christians mentioned in Acts was meant to be temporary, only for time of great need, or until capitalism could take hold.
The period of the early Christians in Jerusalem was already ancient history by the time Acts was written. The very fact that this communal sharing was mentioned in Acts at all is evidence that the later Pauline Christians did not do that. That is, it was news to them.

So, do you take that as we are not obligated to share with those in need?

Yes, there are two kinds of leftist philosophy. In the beginning leftist philosophy believed in the rights of people. That the common people were not stupid but could govern themselves. Kings and queens and nobility were not necessary but all humans were equal. These leftists had a high opinion of human nature. The people had rights given to them by their Creator that governments could not take away.

Later leftists have reversed that philosophy. Unlike the original liberals, leftist philosophy today is concerned with rights that people should NOT have. Why should people not have rights? Because today’s leftists no longer have confidence in the common people to do the right thing. Just like in the bad old days when the aristocracy thought that they were the “betters,” today’s aristocratic leftists have the same opinion about themselves and they decide what rights the people should not have. They have a low opinion about human nature, and so the people need to be controlled. There are no rights, but privileges that can be dispensed out.

Of course, maybe today’s leftists are correct. Maybe the founding premises of liberalism were wrong, and the rights of people should be curtailed.

So, do you take that as we are not obligated to share with those in need?
What a strange, and long, jump in thought. There is no connection between my statement about biblical verses and this question. The content of my statement was not addressed, just this odd question.

As far as the question itself goes, leaving out “So” part, you and I are obligated to share with those in need, if that is what you mean by “we.”

Mack, I presume you’re final comment on curtailing human rights is in jest; you’re insight into “the two lefts” is true.

I object to characterizing control freak radical materialists as “left” and conservatives as “right” when originally left and right meant Communist vs. Fascist, two sets of godless radical materialists. Both sets of radical materialists will rape society and mockingly blame those it victimizes. Communism is internationally-oriented; Fascism does it through cultivating nationalism. That’s the only difference I see.

The early liberals were masquerading as liberty-loving and, at present, liberals are unmasked as crypto-elitist control freaks. This was, of course, the plan per ex-Communist-turned-Catholic, CPUSA attorney Bella Dodd, who realized the banksters and the Bolsheviks were in bed with each other and hell-bent on enslaving We, The People. Sin is insanity, yet I wonder if there are underlying psycho-physiological reasons that enhance the tendency to embrace the diabolical.

Is this a result of (uh-oh I’m trying to coin a phrase here) the Superior Slave Syndrome?!? You know, the ribbon clerks whose pride is pumped up by forcing others to respect their authority as in NAZI Germany. Americans are un-American, whether as a result of mercury in vaccines; docility-inducing, thyroid-punking fluoride in the water; brain-melting oxidizers in gas curdling our lipo-protein gray matter; ionizing radiation bathing us from microwave-radiating cell phone towers causing cells to open up and spill their mineral guts; soy, soy, soy acting as a phyto-estrogen and xeno-estrogens from petro-chemicals causing everybody, male and female, have PMS; the mysterious halving of testosterone levels in two generations (an international phenom); and/or brain wave entrainment from the one-eyed devil, the video monitor/tv; all as dialed-in by a few decades of increasingly-refined social engineers up to no good dumbing down schools and ramping up egos so we think we’re soooooo smart.

The best example is the Catholic Church as led by the Democrat-friendly USCCB. The Catholic Church has gone out with a whimper, not a bang, as Obamacrats mandate a kind of sado-masochistic policy of shutting down hospitals, businesses and universities that refuse to provide the means to eradicate future Americans by abortion and sterilization if Catholics refuse to pay for dictated “health insurance.” Are we all suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome? Are we all Patty Hearts, raped for taxes that upend our world view and brainwashed into joining our captors? The pillar and ground of civilization, the Catholic Church, is functionally gone and we hardly shed a tear because the people have spoken: man lives by bread alone. “Two legs bad, no legs good.” As Colin Wilson said, “The average man is a conformist.”

Yes, un-America is undergoing an unharmonic convergence of rampant sociopathy including Autism Spectrum Disorder; and wild hormonal derangement; and premediated ignorance (with 70% of Americans being illiterate and 35% being functionally illiterate and unable to scribble a letter or numeral) as Democrats protect teachers from having to take competency tests. Communist Bella Dodd was first to organize America’s teachers and bring them into the CPUSA fold so no surprise there. The apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary at Fatima predicted Russia would spread her errors leading to the annihilation of nations. Are we there yet? There is only a remnant of Americans not mesmerized by American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, an immune 5%, Colin Wilson’s The Outsider, not content to be force-fed the corpse of their own body politic. There is no political answer! “We fight not against men, but against (demonic) powers and principalities.” And Catholics in particular have forfeited their spiritual weapon, the Rosary, and the shield identifiying servants of the Woman Clothed with the Sun, the brown wool Carmelite Scapular. As Roy Masters says, “Born again turkeys are still turkeys.” May the Creator who endows us with our inalienable rights deliver us from our own proud foolishness and make of America a soaring eagle once more.

👍👍

“The Creator endowed us with our inalienable rights.” Sadly, though, many people in this country today think it is Caesar, the goverment which endows us with rights. But the truth is–that government cannot grant rights, but only take them away.

So my last comment was half in jest, and all serious. Because that really is the debate today, although heavily disguised. The debate today is about curtailment of rights, such as, should the people have the right to own guns? Should the people have the right to choose their own companions, have the right to sell or rent to whom they choose? Do the people have the right to run their own schools and educate their children?

The “progressives” of today answer these questions with NO. The people should not have these rights. They should not have these rights because the people are incapable of deciding for themselves–they need laws and threat of punishment to ensure they do the right thing–the right thing in the minds of the elite “progressives.”

That’s why there are two kinds of leftists–the old 18th and 19th century kind who believed in the people, and the contemporary kind who do not.
