Are there 3 days between Good Friday and Easter?

My wife wants to know how one can fit three days between Good Friday and three days until He rose again.

Where’are the 3 days?
 
Friday is day 1, Saturday is day 2, so, Sunday would be the 3rd day.
 
The Jews counted parts of days as whole days, and a day began at sunset. Jesus died on Friday afternoon (day 1), was placed in the grave and spent Saturday in the grave (day2), and rose sometime on Sunday before dawn (day 3). This could be anywhere from sunset on. Despite the fact that these are not 3 actual 24 hour periods, they were considered 3 days, by the way the Jews reckoned time.
 
Also remember, it is not 3 days between, it is said ON the third day. And with Jesus having died on Good Friday (day 1), Sunday then becomes day 3, ON which Jesus rose from the dead.
 
I think the confusion comes from the verse where Christ says:

Matthew 11:40, Douay-Rheims version
For as Jonas was in the whale’s belly three days and three nights: so shall the Son of man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

I’ve heard arguments for a Wed., Thurs., or Friday Crucifixion (it does say elsewhere the Sabbath was a “high day” which is not the normal weekly Sabbath) as well as the Jewish method of counting the days.

I’m in the camp of believing he died and rose and is our salvation and this detail will likely never be agreed upon by mere motals:thumbsup:.
 
There are three kinds of people. Those who can count and those who can’t. 🙂
