Are there any catholic virgins left?

I’m saving myself for marriage.

So I’m reaching my third decade in life where I’m wondering whether my life ahead is to stay celibate forever or just keep waiting for the right person.

Wondering if anybody else is in this position?

I’m only 18, but it’s in that college-going age where people try new things and go through boyfriends faster than cigarettes during stress.

Often times, they’ll have sex. I try not to give in to that.

Do you mean your fourth decade? Because if you’re only 19, you have plenty of time.

I am! And I’m only 17 but you wouldn’t believe how much I’m already mocked for it. I’m fighting hard. I wear the cord and medal of st Thomas daily to aid me in my purity

My daughter is also 17, and still a virgin. She also gets made fun of all the time. I am so proud of the way she handles herself in this.

To the OP, have you considered any religiious orders? There are some lay orders (third orders) which would allow you to marry when Mr. Right comes along. I suggest it only because you would be among others who would be able to support you, and not question you all the time.

In Western society these days, virginity is seen as the evil pariah that must be shunned at all costs.

If it makes you feel better, the most recent data indicate that “only” about 34% of teens and 60% of adults 24 and younger have ever been sexually active. So, virgins are out there.

But don’t obsess about virginity. Lots of young, foolish people try sex, regret it, repent and move ahead with a commitment to chastity. These people are not “damaged goods” and are often very holy 🙂 What you want is a mate who has commited a chaste Catholic life, not necessarily one that has never made a mistake.

I’m a virgin, and society hates people like me!
Yes, I accidentally somehow let it slip in a conversation and their reaction was one of shock. I wasn’t sure how to react to it, other than refer back to scripture that mentioned the two states of life : ennuch or marriage. I’m beginning to think I’m rather unusual as a catholic sticking by the catechism so tenaciously.

The secular dating scene looks down on virginity AND virtue at the same time.

It may seem frustrating, but you are only approaching your 20’s. Keep looking. If you are meant to marry, you will find the right person. Keep an open mind, too, though. Don’t automatically discount someone just because he (or she, if you are a man) has had sex before. It may just be that your future spouse has made that particular mistake and repented of it. And even if you meant you are approaching your 4th decade (your 30’s), the above advice still holds.
And to answer your title question: yes, there are still Catholic virgins. We just have not committed that one particular sin. Don’t make virginity your only standard. It is a good one, and it may be a deal breaker depending on the total character of the potential spouse, but it should not be the one and only thing that determines whether you discern marriage or not with a particular person.
